Overview
Alger Wilson (阿尔杰·威尔逊) is one of the founding members of the Tarot Club in the source material and an NPC in Lord of Mysteries. He is codenamed The Hanged Man, after the major arcana of the same name, and operates a privateer ship along the southern Sonia Sea coast. He is a former Loen Royal Navy officer turned Beyonder privateer, and his Pathway affiliation aligns him with sea-faring and survival-themed roles.
Background
Alger Wilson left the Loen Royal Navy under murky circumstances and re-emerged as a Beyonder privateer captain in the southern seas. Like Audrey Hall, he was pulled into the Sefirah Castle by Klein Moretti during the Tarot Club's foundational ritual and joined as the Hanged Man. He brings the Club a maritime intelligence network, sea-route context, and a calm operational temperament under pressure.
Pathway and Codename
Alger's Pathway affiliation places him in the Hanged Man and Sailor group of the source material. His codename mirrors that line's god. The studio has published the full roster of twenty two gods with their mottos, and the Hanged Man (倒吊人) is among them, given as 疯狂是对我的褒奖,向我奉上你的灵魂: madness is his praise, and souls are what he asks for. Within the Tarot Club ritual, Alger sits at the Hanged Man seat and contributes maritime divinations, weather and sea forecasts, and route intelligence. See Pathways.
The Tarot Club Seats
The game's own character material names several of the Club's seats. Note that no English romanisation has been published for every member.
Seat | Member | What the game's character material gives them |
|---|---|---|
The Fool | Klein Moretti (克莱恩) | Founder of the Club and the authority at its centre |
Justice | Audrey Hall (奥黛丽) | Sequence 3 of the Visionary line. She opens the player's story in Tingen and funds their first months |
The Star | Leonard Mitchell (伦纳德) | Sequence 3, the Fear Bishop. He hires the player into the Blackthorn Security Company |
The Hanged Man | Alger Wilson (阿尔杰) | Privateer captain of the southern seas |
The Magician | 佛尔思 | A high Sequence of the 门 (Door) line, credited in game material with creating the kingdom's travelling obelisk network. No English rendering of the name has been published |
Where His Content Sits on the Plan
Alger's ground is the sea, and the sea is not in the launch build. The studio's published build-out starts at Tingen, reaches Backlund next, then the Forsaken Land, then the Five Seas, and a western continent after that. Material around the maritime chapters was described in May 2026 as being in intensive production. Tingen, the region that shipped, is inland. See Dev Roadmap.
In-Game Role
Alger appears through ritual cameos in Tarot Club gathering scenes. Whether he turns up in person anywhere in Tingen at launch has not been published, and the privateer convoys, sea-monster hunts and pirate-against-pirate encounters described as his gameplay loop belong to regions that have not shipped. See Multiplayer and Co-Op.
Personality
Alger is calm, calculated, and survival-leaning. The source material frames his stoicism as a defence: a man who has seen the navy and the sea both betray him learns to trust no one and to plan three steps ahead. He is friendly to the player but never warm; respect comes only after repeated demonstrations of competence and discretion.
Player Relationship
Alger Wilson is a source-material Tarot Club member tied to the imperial capital and the southern coast. That content is not in the launch build: Backlund and the Five Seas are staged for later stages of the studio's published multi-year plan. A dedicated Alger questline, privateer contracts, navy-intelligence operations, and any reputation rewards such as cosmetics or a personal cabin aboard his ship have not been published.
