Overview

The Young Adult stage is one of the nine life stages in inZOI and represents the single biggest turning point in a Zoi's progression. It lasts for 9 in-game days (approximately 14.4 real-world hours at default speed) and spans days 21 through 30 of the overall 100-day lifespan. During this period, nearly every major gameplay system becomes available for the first time. Your Zoi can pursue Ambitions, choose a Desired Life, enroll in University, start a full career, and enter romantic relationships. It is the first life stage where your Zoi has full autonomy over their future.

Young Adult is selectable during Create a Zoi character creation, making it a popular starting point for players who want immediate access to the complete set of features without waiting through the earlier developmental stages.

Duration and Timing

At the default game speed, one in-game day equals 96 real-world minutes. The Young Adult stage occupies days 21 through 30 of the lifespan, giving you 9 full in-game days before your Zoi transitions into the Adult stage. The table below puts this into context alongside every other life stage.

Players can adjust the length of an in-game day through the settings menu, which stretches or compresses every life stage proportionally. Aging can also be disabled entirely if you prefer to stay in the Young Adult stage indefinitely.

Features That Unlock

The Young Adult stage is where the floodgates open. Teenagers have access to high school and basic social interactions, but Young Adults gain access to the systems that define long-term gameplay. The table below summarizes every major feature that becomes available.

Ambitions and Desired Life

Two of the most important systems in inZOI unlock at the Young Adult stage: Ambitions and Desired Lives. These systems work together to shape how your Zoi experiences the world and what goals they pursue.

Ambitions

Ambitions are long-term goals organized into 10 categories, with 22 individual ambitions to choose from. Each ambition has three progression tiers, and completing tiers earns Meow Coins. A Zoi's chosen ambition influences the Urges they experience during daily life. For example, a Zoi with the Fitness Master ambition will naturally feel driven to exercise, while a Knowledge Seeker will gravitate toward reading and studying.

Ambitions are not permanent. You can change your Zoi's ambition at any time through their Zoi Card, so there is no pressure to commit to a single path right away. The 10 ambition categories are Wealth, Career Success, Stay Healthy, Family Happiness, Harmony and Peace, Knowledge and Learning, Creative Expression, Pursuit of Love, Contribute to Community, and Social Unrest.

Desired Life

A Desired Life is an optional selection that sets your Zoi's default Traits, Values, Preferences, Ambition, and aligned Skills. There are 16 Desired Lives to pick from, ranging from Life of Abundance (focused on wealth and material comfort) to Life of Familial Devotion (centered on raising a large family) to Life of Self-Creation (a blank slate with no preset recommendations).

Choosing a Desired Life is entirely optional. If you select one, the defaults it applies can still be changed later through the Zoi Card or through your Zoi's lived experiences. A Desired Life aligned with compatible Traits will generate relevant Urges that make it easier to work toward your chosen Ambition.

University

The University system is exclusive to the Young Adult stage. To enroll, open your Zoi's Smartphone (press P or click the purple phone icon), navigate to the School app, and select the University tab. From there, pick one of three available degree programs:

Once you apply, your Zoi is automatically enrolled. There is no entrance exam or application rejection in the current Early Access build. When class time arrives, a popup notification appears offering to transport your Zoi by bus or car. Universities function as rabbit hole lots, meaning your Zoi disappears inside the building for the duration of the class.

To progress academically, you need to complete homework and study tasks using books and computers at your household lot. Graduation requires attending university at least six times, which takes roughly 7 to 10 in-game days. Since the Young Adult stage lasts only 9 days, fitting in all six class sessions requires consistent attendance. If your Zoi ages up to Adult before completing the coursework, they automatically graduate upon the transition.

Two university campuses exist in the game world. Dowon has Youngsung School, located south of the city near the AZ Convenience Store. Bliss Bay has Bliss Bay Public School, situated in the southwest area of the city. Dropping out resets your academic progress but allows immediate re-enrollment in the same or a different degree.

Careers

The Young Adult stage opens up the full jobs and careers system. To find a job, open your Zoi's Smartphone and tap the Career app to browse available positions across multiple industries. You can choose between full-time and part-time roles depending on how much time you want to dedicate to work versus other pursuits like university or socializing.

Nearly every career in the game is available to Young Adults, Adults, and Middle-Aged Zois. The one notable exception is Idol Trainee at Adam Entertainment, which is exclusive to Young Adults. If your Zoi is working as an Idol Trainee when they age up to Adult, they will become unemployed and need to find a new career. This makes Idol Trainee a time-sensitive opportunity that only exists during the Young Adult window.

Career tracks span a wide range of industries: entertainment, retail, corporate, creative, public service, professional, sports, and even criminal enterprises. The career you choose can align with your Zoi's Ambition and Desired Life to create a cohesive life path, or you can take a completely different direction.

Romance and Relationships

The romance system activates at the Young Adult stage. Before this point, Zois can form friendships and family bonds, but romantic interactions are locked. As a Young Adult, your Zoi can flirt, go on dates, build romantic relationships, and eventually pursue marriage.

Romantic relationships progress through seven levels: Terrible, Uncomfortable, Ambivalent, Neutral, Mutual Crush, Sweetheart, and True Love. Each level unlocks new romantic interactions. When two Zois reach True Love, the option to propose marriage becomes available. After engagement, you can marry immediately or plan a formal wedding through the Events app on the Smartphone.

Romantic preferences (which genders your Zoi is attracted to and whether they are interested in romance at all) are set during Create a Zoi and cannot be changed afterward. Unmarried Zois face no restrictions on dating multiple partners simultaneously, but married Zois will react negatively to infidelity. A spouse who discovers cheating may confront their partner, and the Affection level between them will drop.

Young Adults can also have children through biological pregnancy (3 in-game days), adoption, or Medical Birth (costs 1,000 Meow). Pregnancy and adoption were expanded in the v0.2.0 update to work for unmarried couples, same-sex couples, and single Zois.

How Young Adult Differs from Adult

On the surface, the Young Adult and Adult stages look similar. Both have full access to careers, romance, marriage, and family life. The key differences come down to timing, exclusivity, and physical appearance.

The most important distinction is that no new gameplay features unlock at the Adult stage. Everything available to Adults was already available to Young Adults. The Adult stage is simply a longer period (20 days versus 9) in which your Zoi continues the life they built during their Young Adult years. University enrollment and the Idol Trainee career are the two features that are lost upon aging up.

Key Decisions at This Stage

Because the Young Adult stage is where so many systems converge, it involves more consequential decisions than any other point in the game. The choices you make during these 9 days set the trajectory for the remaining 70 days of your Zoi's life.

• Choose a Desired Life (or don't). Picking a Desired Life early gives your Zoi a clear direction with aligned Traits, Values, and Skills. Choosing Life of Self-Creation leaves everything open if you prefer to figure things out as you go.

• Set an Ambition. Your first Ambition shapes the Urges your Zoi experiences daily. Pick one that aligns with the career and lifestyle you want, or experiment freely since Ambitions can be changed anytime.

• Enroll in University or skip it. University takes a significant chunk of the 9-day Young Adult window. If you prioritize a degree, plan to attend consistently since graduation requires at least six class sessions. If university does not interest you, jump straight into a career instead.

• Start a career. With the full job market open, decide whether to go full-time, part-time, or hold off while attending university. Remember that Idol Trainee is only available now.

• Pursue romance. If relationships are part of your Zoi's plan, start building romantic connections early. Reaching True Love takes time, and marriage and children open up additional gameplay.

• Balance your time. Nine days is not very long. University, a career, romance, and socializing all compete for your Zoi's limited time. Prioritize what matters most for the life you want to build.

Tips

• If you want to experience everything the Young Adult stage has to offer, consider disabling aging temporarily so you are not rushed through the 9-day window.

• University attendance and a part-time job can coexist since classes only run three days a week. Use the off-days for work, socializing, or skill building.

• The Idol Trainee career at Adam Entertainment is the only age-exclusive job in the game. Try it during the Young Adult stage if you are curious, because it will not be available later.

• Align your Desired Life, Ambition, and career for maximum synergy. For example, choosing Life of Creativity, the Great Painter ambition, and a creative career will generate Urges that naturally support each other.

• Starting the Young Adult stage in Create a Zoi lets you skip the childhood and teenage years entirely, giving you immediate access to all gameplay systems.

• Romantic preferences set during character creation are permanent. Make sure your Zoi's orientation matches the relationships you want to pursue before confirming.
