Comprehensive expansion with detailed lore, mythology connections, and all in-game functions
Psycat is a lilac bi-colour Ragdoll cat who works as the player's main supervisor at AR Company, the fictional organization that oversees Zois' lives. She is one of the first characters you meet in the game and remains a constant presence throughout gameplay as a source of help, tutorials, and tips.
The name "Psycat" is a portmanteau of "psyche" (Ancient Greek for "soul") and "cat". This fits her role of watching over Zois' souls and karma. During earlier stages of development, the character was called "Psykhet", which more closely mirrors the Egyptian-influenced spelling of "psyche." The name was simplified to Psycat before the game's public reveal.
Psycat was originally conceived as a deity during the game's earliest development. She was designed as a divine figure who controlled the world from above. The concept was later reimagined, and Psycat became a supervisor character at AR Company instead. The developers have joked about this shift by calling her an "ex-god", acknowledging her originally divine nature while placing her in a more grounded corporate role.
Another AR Company employee named Cupid has an obvious crush on Psycat. This is a deliberate reference to Greek mythology: Psyche was the goddess of the soul, and Cupid (Eros) was the god of love who fell in love with Psyche. Their mythological love story is one of the most well-known tales in Greek literature, and the inZOI developers wove this reference into the workplace dynamics at AR Company.
Psycat appears throughout the game in several contexts:
When you start a new game, Psycat activates the elevator and brings the player to the AR Company office floor. She introduces the concept of Zois, the world, and the player's role as a supervisor. This is the first time you see Psycat and establishes her as your guide.
Accessible via the book icon with a question mark in the top-right menu. Psycat's Guide is the main help system in the game and contains:
Tutorials — step-by-step explanations of core game systems including needs, skills, relationships, Build Mode, and character creation.
In-game help — searchable reference material for specific questions about mechanics.
Cheat access — the Enable Cheats toggle is in the bottom-left of the Guide window. See the cheats article for the full command list.
Quick money button — gives 100,000 Meow per click when cheats are enabled.
Emergency Rescue — a feature for unsticking Zois who get trapped in geometry, stuck in animations, or softlocked in specific locations. Teleports the Zoi to a safe position.
During Live Mode (normal gameplay), Psycat appears in the AR Talk chat window. She provides contextual tips and guidance based on what is happening in the game. If a Zoi's needs are critically low, Psycat may suggest actions. If a player enters Build Mode for the first time, she offers building tips.
In Build Mode, Psycat appears through "Psycat's Help" to assist with building and decorating. She offers suggestions for room layouts, furniture placement, and design principles. This help system is separate from the main Psycat's Guide and is specific to building contexts.
