Major rewrite: expanded from stub to comprehensive business ownership guide covering setup, presets, employee management, franchise system, customer satisfaction, accounting, and tips
The business ownership system, introduced in inZOI's v0.5.0 update (December 2025), lets your Zoi start and manage their own commercial enterprises. As a business owner, you control every aspect of operations from setting business hours and hiring employees to adjusting pricing and monitoring customer satisfaction. Business properties operate independently from your residential lot, and a single household can run multiple establishments as a franchise.
Purchase or build a commercial property through Build Mode
Select a business preset (cafe, bakery, restaurant, or bar)
Customize the interior with business-specific display and showcase items
Set business hours and days of operation
Hire employees from your household or acquaintances
Open for business
Type | Focus | Key Skill |
|---|---|---|
Cafe | Coffee and beverages | Coffee Craft |
Bakery | Baked goods and desserts | Baking |
Restaurant | Cooked meals and dining | Cooking |
Bar | Mixed drinks and nightlife | Drink Mixing |
Each business preset automatically configures appropriate customer actions and behaviors for the type of establishment. Customers visiting a cafe will order drinks, browse merchandise, and sit at tables, while restaurant customers expect a full dining experience.
Hire household members or acquaintances as employees. When assigning workers, consider their skills; employees with higher relevant skills (Cooking, customer service, etc.) perform their duties more effectively.
Assign employees to specific roles: orders, cooking, cleaning, and customer service
Employees autonomously perform their assigned duties during business hours
You can intervene and direct employees manually when needed
Employee pay is calculated based on three factors: business level, employee rank, and hours worked. Salaries are automatically deducted after closing time each day. Higher-level businesses generate more revenue but also incur higher salary costs.
Set custom operating hours and days. You decide when the business opens and closes. Customers only visit during posted hours.
Adjust pricing tiers for your services and menu items. Higher prices mean more revenue per customer but may reduce customer satisfaction and foot traffic. Find the balance that maximizes overall profit.
Set target customer age groups to attract specific demographics
Business value determines how many customers visit
Customer satisfaction directly affects business growth
Watch customer thought bubbles for real-time feedback
A single household can own and operate multiple businesses as a franchise. Each location operates independently with its own employees, hours, and accounting. This lets ambitious Zois build a business empire across Dowon and Bliss Bay.
Automatic end-of-day accounting shows income, expenses, and net profit
Daily customer reviews and satisfaction scores
Profit summaries help you identify trends and adjust strategy
Employee salary deductions displayed separately from operational costs
Businesses have levels that increase as customer satisfaction grows and the establishment's reputation improves. Higher business levels attract more customers and allow for higher pricing. Use the cheats command SetBusinessLevel [level] to adjust business level if desired.
The v0.5.0 update added 39 business-specific display and showcase items to Build Mode. These include display cases, menu boards, counters, and decorative elements designed specifically for commercial properties.
