Honor of Kings: World features 15 confirmed playable heroes at launch, drawn from the roster of the original Honor of Kings MOBA. Through the Flow system, the Flowborn protagonist can learn and adopt the combat style of any hero. This means the player is not locked into a single class; they can swap between hero styles freely, even during combat via the Dual-Class System.
Heroes are divided into five roles: Fighters, Mages, Assassins, Rangers, and Supports. Each role has a distinct playstyle and fills a different function in solo play and co-op teams. The game supports four-player co-op for dungeons and eight-player raids, making team composition an important consideration.
In addition to the 15 launch heroes, several more heroes have been confirmed with Honor of Kings: World-specific abilities, including Kai, Zhuangzi, and Jiang Ziya. These heroes may be included at launch or added through post-launch updates.
Fighters are front-line melee heroes who combine durability with strong physical damage. They are ideal for engaging enemies head-on and disrupting formations.

Each hero's combat style is accessed through Flow Styles. Players equip two Flow Styles at a time using the Dual-Class System and can swap freely during combat. Each style includes light and heavy attacks, three active abilities, an evasion move, and an ultimate. This system allows players to create hybrid playstyles by combining heroes from different roles.
The Flowborn learns new Flow Styles by encountering heroes throughout the main story. Additionally, temporary Hero Transformation allows the Flowborn to fully assume a hero's form with exclusive abilities during certain story sequences.
Each Flow Style has three skill trees with over 50 total nodes, allowing deep customization of each hero's moveset beyond the base abilities. This lets players tailor the same hero's style to different roles or content types.
