Overview
Cai Wenji is a support-class hero in Honor of Kings: World. Based on the historical poet and composer Cai Yan, Cai Wenji uses music-based abilities to heal allies and provide defensive buffs. Her Flow style is oriented toward cooperative play, making her one of the primary choices for players who want to fill a support role in dungeons and raids.
Historical inspiration
Cai Yan (circa 177–249 CE), courtesy name Wenji, was a poet, composer, and one of the most celebrated female intellectuals of ancient China. She was captured by the Xiongnu during wartime and later ransomed back, composing the famous 'Poem of Sorrow and Resentment' about her experiences. Her musical talent is the foundation of her in-game healing abilities.
Combat abilities
Item | Description |
|---|---|
Soothing melody | plays a continuous healing song that restores health to nearby allies over time |
Protective harmony | creates a sound barrier around an ally that absorbs incoming damage |
Discordant note | an offensive ability that disrupts enemies with a dissonant blast |
Requiem of restoration | ultimate that pulses massive healing in a wide area over several seconds |
Support role
Cai Wenji is the game's dedicated healer. In multiplayer dungeons and raids, her sustained healing output keeps the group alive through extended encounters. Her abilities work passively in the background. She does not need to stop attacking to heal, as her normal attacks generate healing notes that fly to nearby allies.
In solo play, Cai Wenji's healing applies to the player's active style and to AI companions. She is a lower-risk option for exploring difficult content, trading offensive power for survivability.
