Combat Arts
September 16, 2026 at 02:50 PM
Added ten further named combat arts, the Tempest Lance naming variant and Toxic Wind, and re-dated the unconfirmed duelling account
Combat Arts in Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave are attacks unleashed at the expense of weapon durability. Nintendo describes them as offering greater power, longer range or other advantageous effects, and advises saving them for decisive moments. They sit alongside Blaze Arts in the Combat System, and the two should not be confused: a Combat Art spends the weapon, a Blaze Art spends the user's health.
Every weapon carries a finite number of Uses, and those Uses decrease only when you use a Combat Art. Ordinary attacks cost nothing. That single rule reframes durability from a running tax on every swing into a budget you draw on deliberately, and it is why weapons with very low Uses, such as the five-Use Zerberus, are still practical to carry.

A weapon's remaining durability is not shown on the field until you hover over it. One further wrinkle has been observed in pre-launch footage: when an attack produces a follow-up, only the first strike is the Combat Art, and the second is a standard attack.
Most Combat Arts are attached to a specific weapon and become available once that weapon is equipped, and the weapon roster now records that pairing on the weapon line itself. The list below covers every art documented as of September 2026. Effects are read from interface captures and flavour text, and most stat lines have not been published.
Art | Granted By | User | Effect |
|---|---|---|---|
Deadly Blade | Killing Edge, a C rank sword with 40 Uses | Any wielder | Not published |
Deadeye | Longbow, a C rank bow with 20 Uses | Ursula is shown selecting and using it | The Longbow's own description credits it with very long range |
Compressed Laser | Salamander, Anatolia's E rank gauntlet with 5 Uses. Also recorded against the Zerberus | Anatolia, and shown for Troy | The Zerberus is a handheld firearm whose attacks are treated as magic damage. Its Japanese flavour text names the art in a form that renders roughly as Overcompressed Light Bullet. The published art listing files it with the brawling arts, which is this game's gauntlet group. |
Bloodletting | Answerer, a Hero's Relic with 20 Uses | Sharply raises the wielder's critical rate. Full published figures are in the stat table below. | |
Raging Tempest | Not published | Not published | Might +12 and Hit +20 at range 1, for a cost of 8 durability. Its description reads simply High Mt/Hit |
Brute Throw | Sinza's Trident, an E rank spear with 30 Uses | Esmeralda, whose father owned the weapon | Not published |
Prune | Veroquine, a sword carrying a Curse value of 2 with 30 Uses | Not published | Not published |
Full Moon | Mahadu's Spear, an E rank spear with 20 Uses | Not published | |
Siphon Luck | Long-Night Katara, a cursed E rank sword with 20 Uses | Not published |
Full stat lines for the weapons themselves, including the Uses column those arts draw down, are on the Weapons page.
The weapon roster now carries the art a weapon grants as a column of its own, which turns the art-to-weapon mapping from something read off footage into something the published data states. Two entries on that column are filled in without a usable name, and this wiki leaves both slots empty rather than guessing.
Weapon | What the Line Says | Why the Name Is Not Given Here |
|---|---|---|
Weapons entry: Lakshashi’s Iron Fan | An E rank sword with 20 Uses that grants a combat art | Only a translation of the German name exists. No English name has been published, so no name is printed here |
Mace | An E rank axe with 20 Uses that grants a combat art | The art slot on the line is filled in but the name itself is left blank |
One more axe art sits in the same category from the other direction. Discerning Blow and Spike both have full stat lines, but no weapon on the roster is recorded as granting them, so how an axe user reaches them is not yet documented.
The published art listing sorts every named combat art in this game by the weapon that swings it. Twenty-one names sit across five groups. Two further groups, one for movement arts and one catch-all, are present in the listing and empty. Most of these names carry nothing beyond the group they sit in.
Weapon Type | Named Combat Arts |
|---|---|
Sword | Bloodletting, Crosswise Cut, Deadly Blade, Grounder, Lightning Strike, Mist Reaper, Sunder, Wrath Strike |
Spear | Armored Blow, Full Moon, Raging Tempest, Tempest Spear |
Axe | Discerning Blow, Half Spike, Spike |
Bow | Curved Shot, Deadeye, Encloser, Vital Shot |
Gauntlets | Compressed Laser, Mighty Fist |
The listing labels the last two groups Lance and Brawling, using older series names for what this game calls spears and gauntlets. Compressed Laser sitting in the brawling group follows from where firearms live: this game files guns as gauntlets, so a gun's art lands in the fist column.
The published art listing has since grown to 27 entries, and ten of the names on it are not placed in any of the five groups above. They are recorded here by name only. Nothing beyond the name has been published for any of them, and the weapon type each belongs to is not reproduced here because it has not been read off the listing.
Battleblade Strike
Crash
Destreza
Draw Back
Enrage
Flowing Spear
Haze Slice
Hidden Birdbane
Swap
Wild Abandon
Toxic Wind is attested separately as an art a weapon grants, but no weapon on the roster is recorded as granting it, so it is listed here without a source weapon.
One name appears in two forms. The art this page records as Tempest Spear is written Tempest Lance on the published listing, which uses the older series word for the weapon type. Both point at the same art. Going the other way, seven arts documented here from footage and from weapon lines do not appear on that listing at all: Lightning Strike, Full Moon, Half Spike, Vital Shot, Prune, Brute Throw and Siphon Luck.
Ten arts have a full line ahead of launch. Might, Hit, Critical and Avoid are modifiers laid on top of whatever the unit is holding rather than absolute values, which is why they are written with a sign. Cost is the durability the swing takes out of the weapon.

Art | Weapon Type | Might | Hit | Crit | Avoid | Range | Cost | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Armored Blow | Spear | +3 | +0 | +0 | +0 | 1 | 4 durability | Grants Protection +3 for one turn if the user defeats the target. Cannot make a follow-up attack |
Bloodletting | Sword | +3 | +0 | +20 | +0 | 1 | 2 durability | |
Crosswise Cut | Sword | +5 | +0 | +0 | +0 | 1 | 4 durability | Grants the user a stacking Dexterity +2 after combat, up to a maximum of +10 |
Curved Shot | Bow | +4 | +10 | +0 | +0 | 2 | 2 durability | None recorded |
Discerning Blow | Axe | +0 | +50 | +0 | +0 | 1 | 3 durability | Deals half damage |
Grounder | Sword | +3 | +0 | +0 | +0 | 1 | 3 durability | Bonus damage to flying units. Its in-game line reads simply Effective vs. flying |
Raging Tempest | Spear | +12 | +20 | +0 | +0 | 1 | 8 durability | The heaviest cost published so far |
Spike | Axe | +4 | +10 | +0 | +0 | 1 | 2 durability | None recorded |
Sunder | Sword | +4 | +0 | +10 | +0 | 1 | 2 durability | None recorded |
Tempest Spear | Spear | +4 | +10 | +0 | +0 | 1 | 2 durability | None recorded |
Every cost in that table is a durability figure, which settles something the series has answered differently before: in this game the art draws on the weapon, never on the wielder's health. Blaze Arts are the ones priced in HP. Discerning Blow is the odd one out on effect, giving up half its damage for a +50 swing in accuracy, and Raging Tempest is the odd one out on price at four times the going rate.
Training at the arena plaza during Between-Match Preparation teaches units new moves and raises the weapon tiers they can wield, and weapon proficiency ranks unlock named skills at set letter grades. Several Advanced classes, including the Bardinger and the Dreadnought, carry an innate Combat Arts +2 class skill. At least one personal skill interacts with the system directly: Peter's Sharpshooter extends the range of his Combat Arts.
One hands-on account describes a route-specific layer as well, in which Dietrich can challenge Fierce Warriors to duels to win secret Combat Arts, then enhance those arts and teach them to allies. That has appeared in only one preview, so it is recorded here as unconfirmed.
The other special-move system, paid for in the user's health rather than in durability, is Blaze Arts. Two of the weapons in the table above have pages of their own: Killing Edge, whose Deadly Blade any wielder can use, and Answerer, whose Bloodletting is restricted to Dietrich.
