Esmeralda is a playable character in Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave and a fisherman's daughter from a village on the coast of Dagda. She was to be offered as a sacrifice to a sea creature when Dietrich intervened, and she has travelled with him since, fighting for House Lamine at the Heroic Games. She is far stronger than her build suggests, and she carries weapons other units would struggle to lift.

The Sacrifice
Esmeralda and her father Sinza carried an inherited mark of the kind the Dagdan temples tie to their gods. The local temple ruled that theirs belonged to none of the gods of Dagda, and the family were treated as outsiders on that basis. The judgement ended with Esmeralda chosen to be given to a sea creature, and it was Dietrich who stopped it. She joined him afterwards, and the two turned out to have something in common at first meeting. House Lamine also takes in Fabio and Mikaela.
Her line in Nintendo's presentation, "That settles it! Time to hit the road, to Dagsion!", is the point where that road leads to the tournament in Dagsion.
In Battle
Esmeralda fights with Sinza's Trident, the lance her father left her, with the family mark carved into the shaft. Her exclusive combat art is Brute Throw, and she has a personal skill that lets her handle heavy weapons as though they weighed nothing; a second skill named Javelin Expert has also been recorded on her list. Nintendo's own summary puts it as a strong young woman who can stand up to any foe, and that however heavy the armour, she wears it lightly. Footage shows her in the Commoner class fighting a Brigand in one showing and a Hunter in another.

Notes
The Dagdan word for an individual inherited mark is reported as a Diadem, though that comes from a single account and no effect data has been published for any of them, so nothing is said here about what Esmeralda's actually does. Her home village is named in Japanese material, but no settled English spelling of it has appeared, and her age has not been published. Her English name is spelled Esmeralda, not Esmerelda.
