Overview
The Bonepit is a boss arena in Crimson Desert where the player encounters Muskan, a towering unarmed fighter described as the seemingly undefeated warrior of The Bonepit. The location serves as the stage for one of the game's humanoid boss battles, pitting the player against a brawler who relies on raw physical power rather than weapons. The fight at The Bonepit is framed as a challenge: Muskan takes on all comers, and the player must be the one to finally bring him down.
The Boss: Muskan
Muskan is a human whose size far exceeds that of a normal person. Standing roughly eight feet tall, he fights entirely without weapons, relying on brute strength, lightning-fast fists, and devastating kicks. He is classified as a Humanoid (Brawler) type boss. Despite his enormous frame, Muskan moves with surprising speed, and his attacks can chain together to repeatedly launch the player into the air when his fury meter maxes out.
The battle with Muskan demands patience and timing. Rushing in aggressively tends to result in getting caught in his combo chains, while careful spacing and reading his attack tells creates windows for counterattacks.
Attack Patterns
Muskan uses a mix of punches, kicks, grabs, and a powerful fury-driven supercharge attack. Learning to recognize each move is essential to surviving the encounter.
Attack | Description | Counter |
|---|---|---|
Charge and Heavy Punch | Pauses briefly, then rushes forward with a powerful punch. Deals heavy damage on contact | Can be blocked with a shield or dodged with a sidestep. The brief pause before the rush is the tell |
Instant Kick | A fast, powerful kick that knocks the player to the ground if it connects | Dodge to the side. The speed of this attack makes it difficult to react to at close range |
Ground and Aerial Kick Combo | A two-part attack that starts with a tripping sweep, then follows with airborne kicks. Creates a double knockdown vulnerability if the first hit lands | Avoid the initial sweep to prevent the full combo from connecting |
Knee and Punching Combination | Multi-hit combo starting with a knee strike followed by two to three quick punches | Can be parried. A successful parry leaves Muskan vulnerable to a counterattack |
Grabbing Attack | Muskan attempts to grab the player by the neck. If successful, he slams the player into the ground (choke slam) | Maintain distance or dodge sideways when he reaches forward |
Supercharge Attack | His deadliest attack. Muskan accumulates energy, lunges forward, and delivers multiple punches that launch airborne victims into additional strikes. Corresponds to the fury meter mechanic | Create maximum distance when the fury meter fills. This attack has the longest wind-up and the most devastating payoff |
Fury Meter
Muskan has a fury meter that builds during the fight. When it maxes out, he can unleash chains of blows that repeatedly launch the player into the air, extending his combos well beyond their normal length. Managing distance when the fury meter is full is critical. The Supercharge Attack draws from this meter and represents the single most dangerous moment of the encounter.
Strategy
Be patient. The fight rewards careful spacing and counter-punching rather than sustained aggression
Watch for the brief pause before his Charge and Heavy Punch. That pause is the most reliable attack tell in his kit
Parry the Knee and Punching Combination to create the best counter-attack windows
Stay out of grab range. The choke slam deals significant damage and leaves you vulnerable to follow-up attacks
When the fury meter fills, back off and wait for the Supercharge Attack to end before re-engaging
The Ground and Aerial Kick Combo is most dangerous when the first sweep connects. Prioritize avoiding the initial trip
Rewards
Defeating Muskan provides boss equipment tied to his brawler fighting style. In Crimson Desert's boss equipment system, equipping gear obtained from a defeated boss grants access to that boss's signature skill as a usable combat ability. Muskan's drops are expected to complement an unarmed or close-quarters combat build.
Connection to Other Content
Muskan was revealed alongside Walter Lanford and Kearush the Slayer as part of an IGN First showcase in October 2025, which featured 23 minutes of new boss fight gameplay. The three bosses represent different combat archetypes: Muskan is a pure brawler, Walter Lanford is a ranged gunman, and Kearush is a swift, kinetic fighter.
The name Muskan may be familiar to Black Desert Online players. Pearl Abyss has mentioned that small Easter eggs and homages to Black Desert are scattered throughout Crimson Desert, though no official source has confirmed whether the two Muskans are the same character.
