Overview
The Tench is a medium-sized freshwater fish found in Crimson Desert. It is one of the earliest fish species players are likely to encounter and plays a direct role in the Annabella's Request quest, which introduces the fishing mechanic. Tench prefer muddy lake bottoms and can be caught with a standard Fishing Rod. The fish can be purchased from the fishing vendor at the Rodbel Fishing Dock for 79 Copper Coins, or caught directly from several freshwater locations across the Hernand region.
Where to Catch
The most reliable spot for catching Tench is the pool before Three Saints' Fall, located close to the Wycliffe Mappery in the Hernand region. This location is also the one marked by the quest marker during Annabella's Request. Other freshwater bodies across Hernand may also contain Tench, and once you have gained knowledge of the species, you can open the map from the Knowledge menu to see all available fishing locations for it.
Annabella's Request
The Tench is central to the Annabella's Request faction quest, which serves as the game's introduction to fishing. Annabella, a saddler located north of Hernand Town, provides the player with a free Fishing Rod and asks them to catch a Tench. She needs the fish for its scales, which she uses in her leatherworking. After catching the Tench, players deliver it to Annabella's Assistant at Bloomwood Ranch, southeast of Hernand, to complete the request.
Uses
Cooking: Tench can be cleaned into Fish Fillet, which is used as an ingredient in various cooking recipes. Cooked fish dishes restore health and stamina.
Selling: Tench sell for a moderate amount at any vendor. While not as valuable as legendary fish, they provide a reliable income source during the early game.
Quest item: Required specifically for Annabella's Request. Only one Tench is needed to complete the quest.
Tips
When reeling in a Tench, pull the rod in the opposite direction of the fish's movement. Wait until it stops splashing before reeling in.

Gaining knowledge of the Tench by hovering over it at a merchant's shop allows you to use the map to locate additional fishing spots.
