The Scorchflame Plate Gloves are a Gloves piece in Crimson Desert, found inside a hidden waterfall cave in the Demeniss region. On paper, they are a solid pair of plate gauntlets with 14 ATK, 6 DEF, and a passive Spirit regeneration bonus. In practice, though, most players care about these gloves for a single reason: the Volcanic Eruption Abyss Gear that comes attached to them. Volcanic Eruption causes flame-imbued attacks to trigger devastating fire eruptions, and because the ability can be extracted and socketed into any armor piece, these gloves effectively serve as a delivery vehicle for one of the best offensive abyss abilities in the game.

The main reason players hunt down the Scorchflame Plate Gloves is not the gloves themselves but the Volcanic Eruption Abyss Gear attached to them. Volcanic Eruption is one of the strongest offensive abyss abilities in the game. When active, it causes your attacks that are imbued with flame to trigger volcanic eruptions around the target. These eruptions deal heavy fire area damage at the cost of Spirit per trigger.
What makes Volcanic Eruption particularly strong is that it works with all flame-based skills, not just specific weapon attacks. Any skill that carries a fire element, whether it is a sword combo, a Turning Slash, or a ranged ability, can proc the volcanic eruption effect. This universal compatibility is rare among abyss abilities and makes Volcanic Eruption a build-defining piece of gear.
The Spirit cost per eruption is worth keeping in mind. Without any Spirit regeneration support, you can drain your entire Spirit bar in a few seconds of sustained flame attacking. The gloves themselves partially offset this with their +0.1/sec Spirit regeneration bonus, but dedicated fire builds usually stack additional Spirit recovery through other equipment pieces or consumables.
You do not need to wear the Scorchflame Plate Gloves permanently to benefit from Volcanic Eruption. Like all Abyss Gear, Volcanic Eruption can be extracted and transferred to a different piece of armor. To do this, visit any Witch merchant (such as Elowen in The Witchwoods within Hernand or the Witch in Serpent Marsh in Demeniss) and select the "Extract Abyss Gear" option. Extraction is free and returns the Volcanic Eruption core to your inventory without destroying it.
Once extracted, you can socket Volcanic Eruption into any armor piece that has an open Abyss Core slot (Volcanic Eruption is classified as armor-only gear, so it cannot go into weapons). If your target armor piece does not have a free socket, the Witch can create a new one for a gold fee that scales with the item's tier. Embedding the core into the new socket is free.
This extraction system means you can pair Volcanic Eruption with whatever gloves, chest piece, or boots best suit your build. Many players extract it immediately and install it into higher-defense armor or into a piece that provides complementary stats, keeping the fire eruption effect without being locked into the Scorchflame Plate Gloves' stat line.
The Scorchflame Plate Gloves are hidden inside a waterfall cave in the Demeniss region, near a landmark called Blue Ripple Hearth. To reach this spot, travel from Hernand City eastward over Rocker Hills. Continue past the hills until you reach a river confluence below the Hills of No Return. Look for a pond fed by a small waterfall; you will see a natural stone arch nearby with a double waterfall on the right side.
Below the arch sits a three-house hamlet. From here, scan the cliff face for a dark crease in the rock with water spilling down its surface. This is the entrance to Twilight Grotto, a hidden cave behind the waterfall. You cannot simply walk through the water; you need the Stab skill unlocked in your skill tree. Charge up Stab and launch yourself through the waterfall to pass inside.
Once inside the grotto, follow the short tunnel to the end where a treasure chest sits on a stone ledge. Open it to collect the Scorchflame Plate Gloves. No enemies guard this particular chest, so the only requirement is having Stab available.
From Hernand City, head east over Rocker Hills toward the river confluence below Hills of No Return.
Locate the pond with a small waterfall spilling into it. A stone arch with a double waterfall is visible on the right.
Pass the three-house hamlet below the arch and find the dark crease in the cliff face (Twilight Grotto entrance).
Use a charged Stab to break through the waterfall and enter the cave.
Open the treasure chest at the end of the tunnel to claim the gloves.
Volcanic Eruption shines brightest in fire-focused builds. Below are some popular combinations players have found effective.
Build | Core Gear | How It Works |
|---|---|---|
Fire Dragon | Volcanic Eruption + Drake Shield (Draconic Retribution) + fire-imbued Turning Slash | An all-fire combat style. Turning Slash triggers volcanic eruptions while Draconic Retribution punishes enemies who attack your shield. Every piece feeds off flame synergy. |
Boss Killer | Volcanic Eruption + Imbue Element (Flame) + heavy weapon attacks | Imbue your weapon with flame before a boss fight, then use heavy attacks to proc eruptions repeatedly. The area bursts shred boss health bars faster than most other setups. |
Full Scorchflame Set | Scorchflame Plate Gloves + Scorchflame Plate Cloak + Scorchflame Plate Armor | Wearing the complete Scorchflame set maximizes fire damage output and gives a distinctive dragon-lord look. Less flexible than extracting, but thematically satisfying. |
For any of these builds, unlocking the flame element through the Imbue Element system is a prerequisite. Flame imbuement becomes available after completing the Tree of Slumber puzzle chain in the Abyss, which grants Flame Strike and Flame Level 1.
Volcanic Eruption procs on every flame-imbued attack, including basic combos, charged heavies, and named skills. Always imbue fire before engaging tough enemies to get the most value.
The eruption fireballs have a slight homing effect, so they connect reliably even against mobile targets and bosses with erratic movement patterns.
At 14 ATK and 6 DEF, the Scorchflame Plate Gloves are among the strongest Gloves in raw offensive stats. The DEF value is lower than dedicated tank gloves, but the ATK bonus more than compensates for aggressive playstyles.
The +0.1/sec Spirit regeneration partially offsets Volcanic Eruption's Spirit drain, but it is not enough on its own during sustained combat. Stack Spirit recovery from other gear or use Spirit consumables for long fights.
The Twilight Grotto location is accessible early in the game without any boss fight requirement. As long as you have the Stab skill unlocked, you can grab these gloves well before mid-game.
Consider extracting Volcanic Eruption at a Witch and socketing it into better-defended armor rather than wearing the gloves permanently. The eruption effect is the real prize, and you can put it in any armor piece.
The Scorchflame Plate Cloak and Scorchflame Plate Armor complete the Scorchflame visual set if you prefer the thematic look over min-maxing individual armor pieces.
The sell price of 11.89 Silver is high for gloves. If you already have Volcanic Eruption extracted and socketed elsewhere, selling the leftover gloves is a reasonable gold source.
