Save System
February 28, 2026 at 09:32 AM
Major expansion: added auto-save details, multiple save management, save file location, cloud save plans, troubleshooting.
inZOI uses a save system that supports both manual saves and auto-saves. Players can maintain multiple save files for different households and cities, allowing them to experiment with different playstyles without losing progress. The save system stores all game state including Zoi attributes, relationships, Skills progress, Lots and Housing configurations, and world state.
Manual saves can be triggered at any time through the game menu. The game also performs auto-saves at regular intervals to prevent progress loss from crashes or unexpected shutdowns. Both manual and auto-save files are stored locally on the player's computer.
Players can create and manage multiple save files. Each save file represents a complete game state with its own households, city configurations, and progression. This allows players to:
Maintain separate saves for different households or storylines
Experiment with risky decisions (such as Crime) without affecting a main save
Try different City Edit configurations
Keep backup saves before major life events like Marriage or career changes
The save system captures the complete game state:
Relationship states and Family Trees
Career progress and financial data (Meow balance)
All placed Furniture and Build Mode changes
City Edit configurations (Weather, animals, flora, billboards)
Business ownership and management state
Inventory and collected items
Cloud save support is planned as part of the 2026 Roadmap under the "Beyond the Fundamentals" track. Once implemented, cloud saves will allow players to sync their progress across multiple devices and provide protection against local data loss. The multiplayer features planned for 2026 will also include personal housing with cloud-synced saves.
Save frequently before major decisions to create fallback points
Name your save files descriptively so you can easily identify them later
Keep at least one recent backup save in case of corruption
Mods that are removed between saves may cause loading issues; re-enable required mods before loading
