Overview
The Race Horse is a specialized horse in Crimson Desert associated with horse racing events and competitions. As its name implies, this breed is purpose-built for racing, featuring the same solid stat baseline found on other mid-tier military horses: 400 base HP, 195 base Stamina, and 60 base Defense. Where the Race Horse distinguishes itself is in its context of use; it appears in racing scenarios and competitive events across Pywel.
The Race Horse shares identical stats and skill progression with the Calphadean Scout's Horse, the Hernandian Soldier's Horse, and Priden. All four breeds reach the same max values at Level 5, including 520 HP, 270 Stamina, and Jump Power of 4. The Race Horse learns both Double Jump and High Jump at Level 5, along with the standard suite of movement skills.

Base Stats
Despite its name, the Race Horse does not have inherently higher Speed than other breeds with the same stat template. Its base Speed of 1 scales to 3 at Level 5, matching Priden and other mid-tier horses. The advantage in racing comes from proper skill use, timing Dash, Sprint, Quick Start, and Drift at the right moments rather than raw speed numbers.
Skills
Icon | Skill | Unlock Level |
|---|---|---|
| Dash | Lv. 2 |
| Drift | Lv. 3 |
| Back Kick | Lv. 3 |
| Sprint | Lv. 4 |
| Swimming III | Lv. 5 |
| Quick Start | Lv. 5 |

High Jump | Lv. 5 |
For racing, the most important skills are Quick Start (for fast acceleration out of the gate), Sprint (for sustained high speed on straightaways), and Drift (for maintaining speed through turns). Dash provides a quick burst of speed that can be used to overtake competitors at key moments.

How to Obtain
The Race Horse can be obtained through several methods:
Racing Events: Race Horses are featured in horse racing competitions found in various towns and settlements across Pywel. Winning or participating in certain races may reward you with a Race Horse mount.
Stables and Vendors: Some stables sell Race Horses for silver. Check stables in larger settlements where racing events are held.
Steal from NPCs: Race Horses ridden by NPCs near racetracks or in town areas can be stolen if you equip a mask first. Stealing will increase your bounty.
Once acquired, the Race Horse functions like any standard horse. Register it at a stable to make it permanent, then equip horse items and level it up through the usual methods.
Racing Tips
If you are using the Race Horse in competition, keep these strategies in mind:
Use Quick Start at the beginning: Trigger Quick Start immediately when the race begins to get ahead of the pack early. The burst of acceleration can give you a decisive lead on the first straightaway.
Drift through corners: Using Drift while turning maintains your speed instead of slowing down. Master the timing to keep momentum through tight turns.
Save Sprint for the final stretch: Sprint consumes Stamina rapidly. Save it for the last portion of the race where a sustained burst can secure first place.
Manage Stamina carefully: The 195 base Stamina (270 at max level) is sufficient for one race, but you need to ration it. Sprinting the entire race will drain your Stamina before the finish line.
Comparison with Racing Alternatives
While the Race Horse is a solid mid-tier mount, other breeds can outperform it in pure speed scenarios. Brianto learns Instant Acceleration and Consecutive Instant Acceleration, which provide powerful speed bursts. Among the legendary horses, Royler has the highest Stamina (315) and also learns Consecutive Instant Acceleration, making it the best horse for long-distance speed. For general racing, however, a fully leveled Race Horse performs competitively.
Tips
Level the Race Horse to at least Level 4 before entering competitive races. Sprint, unlocked at Level 4, is essential for winning.
Equip horseshoes that boost Speed to give yourself an edge in races.
Practice the Drift skill on open roads before entering timed events. Poor drifting is the most common reason for losing races.
If you are primarily interested in racing, consider pursuing Royler for the best possible race performance. Royler's higher Stamina and Consecutive Instant Acceleration give it a significant edge.
