Overview
Morning Fog is the opening quest of the Six Pensive Statues and the Evil Spirit sub-chapter in Chapter 9: The Sage of the Desert. After proving himself against T'rukan, Kliff is directed to Jijeong Temple, a sacred site within the Serpent Marsh where six ancient pensive statues guard the path to deeper enlightenment. The morning fog that blankets the marsh creates an eerie setting for the journey.
Objectives
Descend from the meditation platform through the mist-covered marshland
Encounter the Witch's hut along the path
Reach Jijeong Temple
Speak with the Chief Monk at the temple about the damaged pensive statues
Walkthrough
Follow the trail markers downward through the mist-covered marshland. Visibility is reduced during this sequence, adding tension to the exploration.
Along the path you will come across a small hut near the edge of the swamp. A brief interaction with the occupant provides context about the pensive statues and warns that an evil spirit has disturbed the temple's balance.
Continue along the trail until the massive stone structure of Jijeong Temple emerges from the fog. A cutscene introduces the temple grounds and shows the damaged pensive statues, each missing one or both stone hands.
The Chief Monk explains that an evil spirit has corrupted the area, breaking the hands from the six pensive statues that serve as spiritual guardians. Without the statues intact, the spirit grows stronger. Kliff volunteers to repair them.
Tips
Unlock the two nearby waypoints before proceeding: the Abyss Nexus near the Serpent Marsh entrance and the Abyss Cresset in the open area near the temple.
These fast travel points save considerable backtracking time in subsequent quests.
