The Floppy-Eared Bulldog is a dog breed that can be registered as a pet in Crimson Desert. This breed shares the bulldog's signature muscular, compact frame but is distinguished by its soft, drooping ears that hang down along the sides of its head. Like all pets, the Floppy-Eared Bulldog can be found roaming settlements across Pywel, particularly in larger cities.
The Floppy-Eared Bulldog has the same broad chest and short snout as its Pointy-Eared counterpart, but its ears fold downward, giving it a more relaxed and gentle appearance. The drooping ears are the primary visual difference between the two bulldog varieties.
The Floppy-Eared Bulldog comes in eight distinct coat variants. Each variant is a purely cosmetic difference and does not affect the pet's stats or abilities. When you encounter a Floppy-Eared Bulldog in the world, it will randomly be one of these eight appearances. All variants share the same trust requirements, favorite food, and equipment options.

To register a Floppy-Eared Bulldog as your companion, you must reach 100 trust with the animal. Trust is built through two main interactions: petting and feeding. Both actions have daily caps tied to the in-game clock, which resets at midnight.
Petting grants +5 trust per interaction, up to 5 times per in-game day (25 trust maximum from petting alone). To pet a dog, approach it and hold the interaction button.
Feeding is the fastest way to build trust. You can feed the bulldog up to 3 times per in-game day. To feed a stray, open your inventory, select a food item, and use "Take Out" to drop it on the ground near the animal. The bulldog's favorite food is Cheese, which grants +35 trust per feeding. Small Bone and Large Bone each grant +25 trust. Cooked dishes prepared on a Field Iron Griddle or Field Cooking Pot grant +20 trust. Basic food items such as raw Meat, Bird Meat, Fruit, and Vegetable grant +10 trust each.
Using Cheese three times in a single day provides +105 trust, which exceeds the 100 threshold on its own. Combined with petting, you can register a Floppy-Eared Bulldog on the first in-game day you find one. Cheese can be obtained from Dairy Product vendors and crafting. For a full breakdown of trust values and taming strategies, see the main Pets article and the Pet Taming Guide.
The following table lists all items that can be fed to the Floppy-Eared Bulldog to increase trust. The bulldog's favorite food is Cheese, which provides the highest trust gain. Cooked dishes from a Field Iron Griddle or Field Cooking Pot provide moderate trust, while raw ingredients provide the baseline amount.
Item | Trust | Notes |
|---|---|---|
+35 | Favorite food; highest trust gain per feeding | |
+25 | Dropped by certain enemies and wildlife | |
+25 | Dropped by larger creatures | |
Cooked Dishes (Field Iron Griddle) | +20 | Includes Salt-Roasted Bird Meat, Grilled Meat, Grilled Fish, Grilled Vegetables, Grilled Fruit, Toasted Grains, Smoked Eggs, and all Hearty/Satisfying/Filling variants |
+20 | Includes Meat Skewers, Braised Meat, Battered Meat, Fish Skewers, Pickled Vegetables, Battered Grains, Marinated Meat, Harvest Roll, Chewy Rice Cakes, and all Hearty/Satisfying/Filling variants | |
+10 | Raw ingredient; purchased from butchers or looted | |
+10 | Raw ingredient; obtained from hunting birds | |
+10 | Raw ingredient; gathered or purchased | |
+10 | Raw ingredient; gathered or purchased | |
Dairy Product (Tier 1) | +10 | Basic dairy items |
Because Cheese grants +35 trust per feeding and you can feed three times per day, it is possible to reach 105 trust from feeding alone in a single day. Adding five petting interactions (+25) would bring the total to 130 trust, well over the 100 threshold. Even without Cheese, feeding three Small Bones or Large Bones per day (+75) combined with petting (+25) reaches 100 trust in one day.
A dog companion can sometimes be acquired during city festivities tied to the main quest. The Fang Without a Master faction quest also features pet acquisition.
The Floppy-Eared Bulldog can wear pet-specific equipment in two slots: a helm slot and an outfit slot. Equipping gear increases the pet's defensive stats and reduces the chance of injury during combat. Pet equipment can be purchased at shops in Pororin Forest Village and Demeniss.
Slot | Type | |
|---|---|---|
Body | Pet Outfit | |
Head | Pet Helm | |

There are two distinct armor sets available for bulldog puppies: the Plate set and the Cloth set. The Plate set offers higher defense, while the Cloth set is lighter. The Rescue Puppy Outfit is a standalone cosmetic piece. Mix and match helms and outfits to find the combination that suits your playstyle.
Once registered, the Floppy-Eared Bulldog follows you while exploring Pywel. Pets assist in combat by automatically looting items from defeated enemies, saving time during extended fights and dungeon runs. Your pet is a permanent companion and will stay by your side throughout the game. Only one pet can be active at a time, but you can switch between registered pets through the Inventory menu.
Pets can sustain injuries during combat encounters. An injured pet cannot run and will move slowly until healed. Use Healing Force Palm to restore your pet's health. You can also equip pet-specific armor to increase their defensive stats and reduce the chance of injury. Pet equipment can be purchased at shops in Pororin Forest Village and Demeniss.
Multiple pets can be registered at once, up to a maximum of 30. All registered companions are managed through the Inventory menu, where you can switch your active pet or review their equipment and status. Collecting all 30 unique pets is required for a Life Challenge and the Natural Collector trophy.
Craft Companionship enchants on Abyss gear to increase trust gain speed with pets. The Solidarity enchant increases trust gain with all NPCs and animals, making it useful for taming multiple pets in quick succession.
Cheese is the most efficient trust item for the Floppy-Eared Bulldog. Three Cheese feedings in one day (+105 trust) are enough to register the pet without any petting at all.
Be careful when dropping food near other stray animals. Other dogs or even homeless NPCs in settlements may grab the food before your target bulldog reaches it. Try to lure the bulldog to a quiet area before feeding.
If you already have an active pet summoned, unsummon it before attempting to feed a stray. Your current companion will eat the dropped food before the stray can get to it.
All eight Floppy-Eared Bulldog variants are purely cosmetic. Choose whichever coat pattern you find most appealing, since there is no stat or ability difference between them.
