"A leather cloak once worn by Hemon Beindel, leader of the Hellhounds. Made from a whole hellhound hide, the sharp fangs and glaring eyes on the hood give it an intimidating presence."
The Duskfang Leather Cloak is found in a small cave carved into a cliff in the Hernand Highlands area, northwest of Bloodhum House (Grace estate).
Travel to the Hernand Highlands, northwest of Bloodhum House.
Look for a cliffside cave entrance blocked by a wooden structure (a gate or barricade).
Break the wooden structure using your weapon or the Force Palm skill. A standard weapon swing will also work.
Enter the cave and open the treasure chest inside to obtain the Duskfang Leather Cloak.
The cave entrance can be easy to miss because it blends into the cliffside. Look for the breakable wooden barricade as a visual indicator.
The Duskfang Leather Cloak can be further enhanced with Abyss Gears at the witch. The following Abyss Gear modifiers have been observed on this cloak:
Effect | |
|---|---|
Food Effect Level 1 | Increases duration of food buff effects |
Climb Speed Multiplier | +2.0% climbing speed |
Fire Resistance Level 1 | Adds minor Fire Resistance |
For more on the Abyss Gear system, see Abyss Gear Guide.
The Duskfang Leather Cloak can be refined up to 10 levels at the blacksmith, increasing its Defense and Lightning Resistance values. Refinement requires Fleece and other crafting materials. Each refinement level adds incremental stat bonuses. See Gear Refinement for the full refinement system explanation.
The Duskfang Leather Cloak is one piece of the three-piece Duskfang armor set. All pieces are found in hidden locations across the game world.
Piece | Location | How to Access |
|---|---|---|
Hernand Highlands, NW of Bloodhum House | Break the wooden barricade at the cave entrance | |
Whispering Grotto, south of Senia (behind a waterfall) | Use the Stab skill to pass through the waterfall | |
Old ruins south of Pororin Forest | Explore the Castlewood Ruins area |
Wearing multiple pieces of the Duskfang set provides combined benefits including increased Food Effect duration and Climb Speed. The full set offers a well-rounded bonus for exploration-focused players.
At 5 Defense and Lightning Resistance Lv.3, the Duskfang Leather Cloak occupies a mid-tier position among cloaks in Crimson Desert. It is stronger defensively than basic cloaks but lighter than plate variants.
Cloak | Resistance | Notes | |
|---|---|---|---|
5 | Lightning Res. Lv.3 | Mid-tier leather. Part of the Duskfang set. | |
5 | Ice Res. Lv.3 | Same defense tier but Ice resistance instead. | |
3 | Ice Res. Lv.5 | Lower defense but higher resistance level. | |
1 | Ice Res. Lv.3 | Low defense. Cloth type. | |
Higher | Varies | Heavy plate option. See Bolton Plate Cloak. |
The Duskfang set carries significant lore connections to Hemon Beindel and the Hellhounds faction. Hemon Beindel was the notorious leader of the Hellhounds, a group whose name inspired fear across the land. The cloak was crafted from an actual hellhound hide, and the hood was designed to incorporate the beast's fangs and glaring eyes as a symbol of authority and intimidation. Finding this equipment scattered across hidden locations suggests the Hellhounds' influence once reached far beyond a single stronghold.
Only one cloak can be equipped at a time. Cloaks occupy the back armor slot.
Lightning Resistance Lv.3 is most valuable in areas with lightning-type enemies or environmental hazards.
The cloak's sell price of 6.70 Silver makes it worth keeping rather than selling, as its combat utility outweighs its monetary value.
Combined with the Duskfang Armor and Gloves, the set provides a solid mid-game equipment loadout for exploration and climbing.
