Bounty Notice: Simon de Montfort is a key item and House Celeste faction quest in Crimson Desert. It tasks the player with tracking down and capturing Simon de Montfort, an outlaw wanted for stealing honey in the Hernand region. The bounty notice can be picked up from notice boards and poles scattered throughout Hernand starting in Chapter 2: Golden Greed.
Among the eight bounty system targets available in Hernand, Simon de Montfort sits in the middle of the reward range at 8 Silver for a live capture. His crime of stealing honey makes him one of the less dangerous targets, so players new to the bounty hunting system often tackle this contract early on to build up Hernand Contribution without much risk.
Like all bounty notices, this item cannot be sold. It is stored in the Key Items section of the player's inventory and is used to progress through the House Celeste Quests line.

Bounty notices become available starting in Chapter 2: Golden Greed. To pick up Simon de Montfort's bounty, look for notice boards and poles scattered around Hernand. These are marked with a purple bounty poster icon on the minimap, making them easy to spot while exploring the city and surrounding areas.
According to multiple sources, Simon de Montfort's specific notice was found on a pole near a staircase on a street with several beggar NPCs in Hernand. However, bounty notices can appear at multiple notice board locations, so check any purple icon you see on the minimap.
If the bounty does not appear as an active objective after picking it up, open the Journal and navigate to Faction Quests. Look under House Celeste, and the Simon de Montfort bounty will be listed there. Track it from the Journal, and a map marker will activate pointing to the target's last known location.
After accepting the bounty, Simon de Montfort's location is marked on your map. He can be found near a roadside beehive in the far southwest of Hernand, in the area around Scholastone at the Everfrost Basin.
Getting to the location can involve some tricky terrain. One reliable approach is to locate Senia in the southwest Hernand Highlands first, then head west from there. The route may involve climbing over rocks to avoid trail blockages that cut off more direct paths. It is a bit of a detour, but faster than trying to push through blocked routes directly.
If Simon does not appear immediately when you arrive at the marked area, wait nearby for a short time. He will eventually show up in the area. You can also rest at a nearby bonfire and wait 6 to 12 in-game hours before returning.
Simon de Montfort is marked on the minimap with a dedicated bounty icon once you are within range, so there is no guesswork about which NPC to focus on. As a honey thief rather than a violent criminal, Simon is one of the less combat-intensive bounty targets. He will attempt to flee when you get close, so be prepared to chase him down.
The capture process works as follows:
Close the distance and tackle Simon de Montfort to initiate the capture sequence.
Land several hits to build up stagger. The tie-up option will not appear immediately.
Wait for the apprehend prompt to appear after enough stagger has accumulated through repeated strikes.
Select the bind/tie-up option to secure the target.
It is strongly recommended to capture Simon alive rather than killing him. A live capture pays the full 8 Silver reward, while killing the target cuts the payout in half to just 4 Silver. You also receive a larger Contribution boost for bringing bounties in alive.
Once Simon is secured, pick him up and call your horse. Load the prisoner onto the horse and mount up. Carrying a captive on horseback is the only practical way to cover the return distance, since fast travel is disabled while transporting a bounty target.
Be careful during transport. If your horse takes too much damage or gets spooked, both Kliff and the prisoner will fall off. Avoid riding through areas with hostile enemies or dangerous wildlife on the way back. Stick to the main roads where possible.
The destination is the Hernand Guard Station, a small prison located on the west side of Hernand near Oakenshield Manor. This is the same constabulary used for all Hernand region bounties.
On arrival, dismount and remove the prisoner from your horse. Walk Simon de Montfort to the designated handoff point at the guard station. A brief cutscene plays where a guard confirms the delivery and closes out the contract. You then receive your Silver reward and Hernand Contribution.
Condition | Contribution | |
|---|---|---|
Captured Alive | 8 Silver | Hernand Contribution EXP |
Killed | 4 Silver (half) | Reduced Contribution EXP |
Compared to the other Hernand bounties, Simon de Montfort's 8 Silver reward is moderate. For reference, Jeffrey (the introductory bounty) pays just 1 Silver, while Warren is the most lucrative at 25 Silver. Contribution earned from bounties can be spent at the Hernand Contribution Shop.
The following table lists all House Celeste bounty targets available in the Hernand region for comparison.
Target | Reward (Alive) |
|---|---|
2 Silver | |
5 Silver | |
8 Silver | |
12 Silver | |

Simon de Montfort is one of the easier bounties and a good early target for players learning the bounty system. His crime of stealing honey means you should expect a chase rather than a tough fight.
Always capture bounties alive for the full reward. Killing Simon cuts the payout from 8 Silver down to 4 Silver and reduces your Contribution gain.
If Simon does not appear at the marked location, rest at a nearby bonfire and wait 6 to 12 in-game hours, then return to the area.
Do not save and reload while transporting a bounty target, as this can break the quest state.
Consider tackling this bounty alongside nearby exploration objectives or other bounties in the southwestern Hernand area to make the travel time worthwhile.
Completing bounties contributes to your Hernand Contribution, which can be spent at the Contribution Shop for valuable gear and items.
If you are having trouble chasing Simon down, try approaching from a direction that cuts off his escape route so the tackle connects more quickly.
