Seeds are planting materials in Crimson Desert used for farming. Plant them in fertile soil on your farm to grow crops, fruits, and trees that can be harvested and used for cooking, alchemy, or trade.

The farm at the Greymane Camp is where players plant seeds and grow crops. The farm is unlocked by completing the A Rumor in Goldleaf Trading Post faction quest, part of the Grounds of the Sunrise quest series. This quest introduces Kamu, who becomes the camp's seed vendor.
After completing an apple-picking dispatch mission at Glenbright Farms (approximately 16 real-time hours), players build the farm at Howling Hill Camp (approximately 18 real-time hours). A Builder must be in your roster, or the construction dispatch mission will remain locked.
To plant a seed, walk up to an open land parcel on your farm and select Plant Seed. The seed must be explicitly equipped from your inventory before planting. Position yourself next to a planting hole and hold the interaction button until the animation completes.
Crops and trees take approximately three in-game days to fully grow. Once mature, interact with the plant to harvest it. You cannot uproot a growing crop early or plant over an existing one. To change what is growing on a plot, let the plant finish its growth cycle, harvest it, then chop it down before planting a new seed.
Seeds can be acquired through several methods:
Extract from fruit: When you pick up a fruit during exploration, hold the use button on it in your inventory (Inspect, then Extract Seed) to obtain plantable seeds. This works for any fruit type.
Purchase from Kamu: Buy seeds directly from Kamu at the Greymane Camp. Apple and grape seeds are typically available first.
Seed supply contracts: Reach 100 trust with town grocers across Pywel to unlock regional seed supply contracts. Activating these contracts expands Kamu's inventory with seeds native to that region.
Seed supply contracts are trade agreements purchased from town grocers after reaching maximum trust (100 points). Using a contract from your inventory adds that town's regional seeds to Kamu's shop at the Greymane Camp, centralizing seed purchases at your home base.
Contract | Grocer | Town |
|---|---|---|
Solham | ||

Trust is built through daily greetings (+5 per visit), giving gifts such as recipes, books, or pouches looted from bandits, and completing vendor requests from town notice boards. Approximately 20 greetings over 20 in-game days are needed to reach maximum trust.
Most crops harvested from seeds are used as cooking ingredients. The cooking system groups ingredients into broad categories: Fruit, Vegetable, Meat, Grain, Mushrooms, and Medicinal Herbs. Any recipe that calls for a Fruit ingredient accepts any fruit as a substitute, giving players flexibility in which crops they grow.
Some crops serve specialized purposes. Pears can only be obtained through farming (they do not grow in the wild), making pear tree seeds especially valuable. Rubber tree seeds produce crafting material rather than food. Luminous seeds grow herbs that light up dark places. Abyssal seeds yield Abyss Cells used for character upgrades.
The following table shows where each crop's fruit can be found growing in the wild. Seeds for these crops can also be extracted from foraged fruit or purchased from Kamu.

Several crops have associated research projects at various institutes across Pywel. Completing these projects unlocks new capabilities and dispatch missions.
Research Project | Institute | Cost | Time | Effect |
|---|---|---|---|---|
Skyroot Research | 7 Silver | 6 hours | Foundation research on skyroot herb | |
Skyroot Cultivation | Scholastone | 90 Silver | 14 hours | Analyzes growth conditions; allows harvesting skyroot seeds |

Taro Research | 90 Silver | 18 hours | Enables large-scale mission dispatches | |
Prickly Pear Research | Delesyia Castle | 80 Silver | 16 hours | Unlocks dispatch missions to craft the Laser Cannon Spear |
Chaya Research | Dewhaven Keep | 90 Silver | 16 hours | Unlocks dispatch missions to craft Machine Workers |
The farm is a low-effort way to stockpile cooking and crafting ingredients between missions. Plant seeds before heading out on quests and harvest when you return.
Focus early on barley, wheat, or common fruits; these serve dual purposes for cooking and feeding ranch animals.
Because pears do not grow in the wild, pear tree seeds are the only way to obtain pears. Prioritize farming pears if you need them for the Extravagant Meal recipe.
Collect seed supply contracts from all seven town grocers to maximize Kamu's inventory. This lets you buy any seed type without traveling across Pywel.
When you find a new fruit type during exploration, always check if you can extract seeds from it by holding the use button in your inventory.
