The Shipwright's Workshop crafts ship equipment in Windrose. It is the station that produces 12-Pounder Cannons, Hull Bracing, Boarding Gear, and Combat Repair Kits. Paired with the Wharf, it is the foundation of the naval progression system.
Attribute | Details |
|---|---|
Cost | 15 Wood + 10 Coarse Fabric + 5 Copper Ingot |
Placement | Within Bonfire range, requires a roof |
Item | Recipe |
|---|---|
12-Pounder Cannons | 10 Copper Ingots + 10 Wood |
Boarding Gear | Crew equipment for ship-to-ship combat |
Mid-battle ship repair consumables |
The Shipwright's Workshop shares the Anvil and Bellows upgrades with the Weaponsmith Workshop. Both stations can use the same Anvil (10 Wood + 1 Anvil crafted from 30 Iron Ingot) or Bellows (exact recipe quantities are not documented in community sources and should be verified in-game) placed within range.
Building the Shipwright's Workshop is the first objective in the Seafarer tutorial quest. Once built, the player crafts 12-Pounder Cannons and the Wharf, equips cannons on their Ketch, and sails out to engage Blackbeard's fleet. The Shipwright's Workshop remains the ongoing crafting point for all future ship equipment upgrades.

The Shipwright's Workshop and the Wharf split ship management between them. The workshop handles crafting and upgrading the physical part. The wharf handles equipping, removing, and repairing the actual ship. If you try to do the whole loop from memory, this is where most players waste time.
Use the Wharf to remove the cannon, hull bracing, or boarding gear from the ship.
Carry that part back to the Shipwright's Workshop and upgrade it there.
Return to the Wharf and equip the upgraded part again before sailing.
If the ship was destroyed during the process, repair it first at the wharf and then re-equip the upgraded part.
This workflow also applies to rare faction gear. Unlocking a special cannon or hull mod through a faction vendor does not skip the workshop. The plan gives you access to the part, but the workshop still crafts and upgrades the part before the wharf can mount it.
Upgrade | Why It Matters First |
|---|---|
Boarding Gear | Underleveled crew makes boarding slow and dangerous. Even if it trails your hull by a few levels, it cannot be ignored. |
More durability and better repair-kit value keep runs alive long enough for loot and turn-ins to matter. | |
Keep them current for the region once survival is stable. Upgraded cannons shorten fights, but only if the hull lasts long enough to use them. | |
Carry extras before hunting chest ships or high-level convoys. They are the safety valve when a boarding attempt goes sideways. |
