Within the fiction the dictionary is the bridge between two writing systems. John, the quest-giver who hands it over, has been working to crack the Senkamati glyphs that appear on the region's Clay Tablets and stone First Mural carvings. The repeated crossing-out shown on the pages is a deliberate signal that John's translations are best guesses rather than settled fact, so any lore drawn through the dictionary should be read as an interpretation.

Quest Reward
Quest reward for Forgotten Relics. The dictionary is the in-game tool that lets the player make sense of the Senkamati murals, stargazer testimonies, and clay tablet inscriptions.
Completing Forgotten Relics is the only known way to receive the dictionary. Once it is in your inventory the related testimony and inscription items become legible, including the Story of the First Stargazer, the Story of the Second Stargazer, and the Story of the Third Stargazer. It stacks up to 10, so duplicate copies from repeat sources do not clutter the bag.
