Tales of the Stargazers

Tales of the Stargazers is a side quest in Windrose tied to the observatory POI network in the Cursed Swamps. The quest interacts with the same ancient-Stargazer lore layer as Fate of the Prophets, the multi-site observatory puzzle chain, but is tracked as a separate entry in the quest log.

The Three Observatories

The Stargazer sites are a small network of observatory ziggurats in the Cursed Swamps, anchored by the Stargazer Tower and grouped on the wiki under Stargazer Observatory. Each site holds a stone dial puzzle and a sealed chest. Solving a dial advances the paired puzzle quest Fate of the Prophets and, at the same time, ticks the lore beats this quest records, which is why the two logs move together.

In the launch build the Stargazer ruins sit inside the same pre-pirate ritual layer as the swamp's priesthood: the observatories, the Senkamati sites, and the sacrificial pools all radiate from the deep swamp. Tales of the Stargazers is the lore strand that explains who the Stargazers were as a culture, while Fate of the Prophets is the strand that pays out materials for solving their puzzles.

Context

The Stargazer lore thread in Windrose positions the ancient Stargazers as a pre-pirate culture that left behind the observatory ziggurats now scattered across the Cursed Swamps. Fate of the Prophets is the reward-bearing puzzle chain that sends the player to solve the dial puzzles at three observatories; Tales of the Stargazers is the companion lore quest that fills in who those Stargazers were and what became of them.

How to Start

The quest trigger is a lore note or NPC interaction in the Cursed Swamps region. Once started, the objectives guide the player to specific Stargazer-related locations, most of which overlap with the observatories used in Fate of the Prophets. Doing the two quests on parallel tracks is the standard approach because each visit to an observatory advances both logs simultaneously.

Reward and Progression

The reward block appears in the quest log on the final stage. Rewards across observatory-linked content typically include Tumbaga Ingot (the Rare-to-Epic ascension material), a small amount of XP, and an advancement of the Stargazer lore notes. Specific reward quantities are shown on the final stage in-game.

Concrete numbers come from the paired puzzle chain rather than the lore quest. Completing each observatory for the first time pays out Tumbaga Ingots, and finishing all three sites adds a larger one-off bonus on top, so the observatory circuit is one of the better early sources of this otherwise scarce ascension material. The values below reflect the launch build and may shift with balance patches.

Loot the chest at every site in addition to solving the dial, since the chest is separate from the puzzle reward. Tumbaga Ingot is used to ascend Rare gear toward Epic, so banking the full circuit early smooths out a progression bottleneck that otherwise relies on slow exploration drops.
