The Grave of Guillermo Sanchez is the third lore item in the Spanish expedition sequence. The captain mourns Guillermo, the crewman who got the expedition to the priestess, and reflects on the medallion she gave them as a one-time defense against Jones's dead. Like the other graves in the chain, it is a world-placed pickup with no combat or stat use: its value is the story fragment it carries.
In-Game Text
The dead are attacking more often now, as if Jones senses we've found a weapon against his army. Forgive me for not covering your back, Guillermo. Without you, we would never have reached the priestess.
She gave us medallions, but warned that they work only once. Do you think that will be enough to stop the dead?
We're heading back to the ship. Tomorrow we sail to rendezvous with Columbus near the Turtle Island. Still, I can't shake the feeling that something is about to go wrong.
Lore Context
This grave introduces the priestess as a real meeting that happened, the medallion as a one-shot defense, and Turtle Island as the rendezvous point with Columbus. The captain's foreshadowing line ('something is about to go wrong') sets up the catastrophe described in the next lore drop, the death of Juan de la Cosa.
The priestess named here is the High Priestess, and the catastrophe it points toward is recorded in the Skeleton of Juan de la Cosa and Captain Juan de la Cosa's Journal. Read together with the other graves, these notes trace the expedition from its meeting with the priestess to its final disaster.
Reading Order
This is the third entry in the expedition's grave sequence, following the Grave of Esteban Vargas and the Grave of Jaime Lopez. The full arc is also summarized in the Mystery of the Expedition, which ties the scattered notes into a single account.
