Hull Bracing: Iron Resolve is a Rare-rarity modded Ship Hull Modification item. It ascends to an Epic tier that layers an extra bonus on top of the Rare effect. Reinforced where strain is greatest, this bracing is meant to hold when the hull is already failing. Its ironwork is scavenged from wrecks and prizes, reforged and driven into the ship's bones.
She holds on scraps and stubbornness. (A pirate's saying)

How to Unlock
Crafting Hull Bracing: Iron Resolve requires learning Plans: Iron Resolve Hull Bracing, a Rare recipe paper bought from the Smugglers of Port Royal Provisioner once your Smugglers of Port Royal reputation reaches Level 2. The plan costs Piastre x300 and is consumed on use; one copy unlocks the recipe permanently.
Crafting Recipes
Hull Bracing: Iron Resolve is crafted at the Shipwright's Workshop. Station tiers unlock better material pipelines for the same finished bracing:

Ascend to Epic
The Rare Hull Bracing: Iron Resolve can be ascended to Epic rarity at the Shipwright's Workshop by combining the base Rare bracing with Tumbaga Ingot. The ascension keeps the Rare-tier effect and layers the Epic-only bonus on top, so the Epic bracing is strictly better once the Tumbaga cost is acceptable.
Ascend recipe: Tumbaga Ingot x7 + Hull Bracing: Iron Resolve (Rare) x1 to Hull Bracing: Iron Resolve (Epic) x1
Epic-only bonus: Repair Kits effectivness increased by 30% (in-game typo preserved).
When to Use
Iron Resolve rewards ships that stay in the fight long enough to drop below mid-health. The 25% damage resistance peaks when hull health falls to 30%, which can be the difference between sinking and stabilizing long enough to repair. Best on hulls you expect to tank broadsides rather than kite, since you need to actually take damage to benefit. The Epic tier adds a 30% Repair Kit effectiveness boost (note: in-game wording is "effectivness", preserved here) that stacks with the DR, letting a low-HP Frigate claw back to full much faster than a base bracing would allow.
Rare vs Epic Comparison
Stat | Rare | Epic |
|---|---|---|
DEF (Max) | 380 | 380 |
Max Item Level | 15 | 15 |
Base Effect | As Ship Health drops, Damage Resistance increases, reaching up to 25% at 30% Ship Health. | As Ship Health drops, Damage Resistance increases, reaching up to 25% at 30% Ship Health. |
Extra Epic Bonus | None | Repair Kits effectivness increased by 30% (in-game typo preserved). |
The raw DEF value does not change on ascension; the only difference is the layered Epic-only bonus that stacks with the retained Rare-tier effect.
When the Upgrade is Worth It
Iron Resolve Epic adds a 30% Repair Kit effectiveness multiplier (in-game spelling "effectivness"). At low HP the Rare DR bonus keeps you alive; the Epic tier lets the Repair Kit you use while the DR is active bring you further back up each tick. Best on tank-style hulls that intentionally fight at low health.
When to Skip the Ascension
Ascending burns Tumbaga Ingot x7 per hull slot. If your Shipwright's Workshop is not yet at Level 3, if your current Rare bracing is well below Item Level 15, or if you are still deciding between the three bracing variants, hold the Tumbaga for later. The Rare tier is already strong in isolation, and the Epic is a one-way commitment on that specific variant.
