Cayenne Pepper

Overview

Cayenne Pepper is a Coastal Jungle crop. Wild plants grow deeper inside the forest rather than along the edges, and they can also be raised at home from Cayenne Pepper Seeds sown in a Seedbed. A planted sapling matures in 1h 10m and yields 3 to 4 peppers plus a seed for replanting. It is the signature ingredient of every spicy named dish in the launch build, and it also goes into Gunroom Grog, the reload-speed drink for ranged builds.

How to Get

• Gather wild Cayenne Pepper and Cayenne Pepper Seeds from plants deep inside the Coastal Jungle; harvesting a plant returns seeds at roughly a 10 to 20% chance.

• Plant the seeds in a Seedbed at base. Seedbeds are built from Fertile Soil sourced from the Foothills ancient farms.

• Harvest each cycle at 1h 10m of real time; a sapling returns 3 to 4 Cayenne Pepper plus 1 seed, so the patch is self-sustaining.

Farming

Pepper Sapling is the plantable form of Cayenne Pepper. It can only be sown in a Seedbed for Plants, which itself requires Fertile Soil to craft. After planting a single seed the crop matures in 1h 10m of real-time growth, then yields the outputs listed in the harvest table below. Replanting is self-sustaining: every harvest refunds at least one seed.
