Overview
Floor-Standing Torch is a utilities craft station in Windrose. A portable light source used for exploring dark caves and dungeons. Unlike most utilities, it does not require a roof or Bonfire range.

Placement Strategy
The Floor-Standing Torch is the only craft-station that can be placed outside of any Bonfire's range. Two Wood per torch makes it a cheap throwaway light source, which suits its main use case: marking paths and corners in the pitch-black caves of the Foothills and the Deep Jungle. The tooltip explicitly notes "No Comfort bonus," so the torch contributes nothing to camp comfort even though it projects light.
Tips
Carry a stack of Wood and drop torches as breadcrumbs when entering a new dungeon. Two Wood per torch is cheap enough to leave a trail of 10 without thinking.
The torch does not register as a Bonfire range source. Do not rely on it to power nearby crafting stations.
Floor-Standing Torches are destructible (1,500 HP); place them out of blast radius when fighting explosive enemies or using Utilities Explosive Barrel.
Build Menu Workflow
Deploy the Floor-Standing Torch through the standard Build mode. Walk into a dark section of cave, press B to open Build, select the torch, and drop one wherever you need light. The torch stays lit once placed.
To reclaim the Wood after exploration, open Build mode again and middle-click the torch. It deconstructs and returns the original 2 Wood, so torches dropped as breadcrumbs can be recovered on the way out.
Role in the Lighting Loop
The Floor-Standing Torch is the fallback light source when the Oil Lamp is empty or the copper budget is committed elsewhere. Early-game players without the copper for a lamp can rely exclusively on torches; mid-game players typically carry a lamp as the primary light and drop torches only for marking extraction routes.
Related Lighting Options
The Floor-Standing Torch is the most basic placed light. For permanent base lighting that also looks the part, the wall-mounted Wall Torches and the Floor-Standing Candlestick are sturdier decorative alternatives, while the Standing Lamp gives a wider glow. For a held light underground, the Oil Lamp remains the portable option. See the Torches overview for the full set of torch variants.
Unlike most lighting decorations, the Floor-Standing Torch gives no Comfort bonus, so it is a pure utility light rather than a comfort piece.
