Overview
The Dragonbreath Blunderbuss is a fire-themed blunderbuss available at Rare and Epic tiers. It trades a small amount of base damage against Reliable Blunderbuss for a proc-driven fire damage layer that scales well against grouped enemies in the Cursed Swamps. Its Epic perk can trigger a fire explosion around the target, making it one of the few ranged weapons in the current build that doubles as a small area-of-effect tool.
The flavor text on the item card reads "Just make sure you don't singe your mustache."
Stats
Property | Rare | Epic |
|---|---|---|
Damage type | Pierce | Pierce + Fire splash |
Base damage | 160 Pierce | 160 Pierce |
Scaling | Agility D | Agility B to C depending on source |
Perk | Bullets have a 40 percent chance to deal bonus Fire Damage. | Dealing damage has a 60 percent chance of triggering a fire explosion around the target. |
The 160 Pierce base puts the Dragonbreath below the Reliable Blunderbuss (180 Pierce, Agility B) on paper, but the proc-based fire layer tends to make up the gap in sustained fights against multiple targets. Its strength against the grouped Plague Thralls and Plague Warriors of the Cursed Swamps is the main argument for using it in that biome over the Reliable variant.

Disassembly return | Weaponsmith Workshop | 10 Wood, 7 Copper Ingot |

Launch Patch Note
Hotfix 0.10.0.1.6 on April 14, 2026 explicitly fixed Dragonbreath Blunderbuss fire-damage display. The patch notes state: "Fixed fire damage numbers for the Dragonbreath Blunderbuss, they are now displayed correctly with the proper VFX." This was one of the weapon-specific bullets called out in the launch-day Patch Notes alongside the Plague Halberd VFX fix.

Best Use
Grouped enemies in the Cursed Swamps, especially Plague Thrall packs triggered by a Plague Witch.
Pair with Bone Shot for a close-range AoE load that leans on the fire-explosion proc.
Cheap filler in the Rare slot once the player has a Weaponsmith Workshop and access to the Foothills copper loop.
