Pickling Jar

The Pickling Jar is a crafting station in Starsand Island that converts vegetables and salt into pickled vegetables. Pickled items are cooking ingredients used in salads, side dishes, and specialty recipes. The Pickling Jar Blueprint is available from the Happiness Seed Shop after reaching Junior Farmer certification, alongside the Jam Maker and Brewing Barrel.

How to Unlock

Complete Graminova's Junior Farmer trial quests, then purchase the Pickling Jar Blueprint from the Happiness Seed Shop. Craft it at your Worktable and place it near your kitchen or other processing stations.

How It Works

Load vegetables and salt into the Pickling Jar, and the fermentation process begins. After the timer completes, the jar produces pickled vegetables. Like the Brewing Barrel and Jam Maker, the Pickling Jar works on a timed cycle rather than instant processing.

Uses in Cooking

Pickled vegetables appear as ingredients in several cooking recipes. They add flavor variety to dishes and some recipes specifically require pickled items. Note that several characters dislike pickled items as gifts (notably Solara dislikes Pickled Water Spinach), so check the gift guide before gifting pickled goods.

Tips

• Water Spinach and Cabbage are efficient vegetables for pickling since they grow quickly (1 day each).

• Salt production at the Separator is instant, so keep a supply of salt ingredients on hand.

• Build the Pickling Jar alongside the Jam Maker and Brewing Barrel for a complete set of Junior Farmer processing stations.

• Do not gift pickled items blindly. Several characters actively dislike pickled foods. Check preferences first.

• Build multiple jars if you use pickled items in cooking regularly. The timed processing means one jar can bottleneck your recipe pipeline.
