Weapons in Romestead span melee, ranged, and magic, organized into ten weapon classes. Each class has its own Skills line that scales damage with use, and most classes follow the same tier ladder (Rusted, Flint, Copper, Bronze, Iron, boss-themed).
Swords (Gladii)
The classic Roman short sword. Slashing damage; benefits from the Swords skill and the Mars Blessing.

Scorpion Stinger is a unique spear that received a buff in a launch-week hotfix, giving spear users a stronger high-end option.
Pilums (Thrown Spears)
A launch-week balance pass made Pilums cheaper and faster to craft, lowering the barrier to keeping a stack on hand for boss fights.
A thrown javelin used by Roman legions. Piercing; throws like a bow once aimed (since patch 0.20.1_23). Scales with the Throwing skill and the Spears skill. Requires a Pilum Head crafted at the Blacksmith.

Shields
Defensive off-hand item. Scales with the Shields skill, which reduces energy cost of blocking. Shields stopped Damage over Time effects from cancelling actions starting patch 0.18.1_1.

Bows

Ranged weapon with higher single-shot damage but slower fire rate. Sagittarii is a dedicated crossbow class added in patch 0.20.1_23. Scales with the Crossbows skill.

One-handed magic weapon. Cast spells with energy cost. Magic damage is resisted by all enemies after the 0.20.1_14 magic-resistance pass. Scales with the Scrolls skill.

Tools That Double as Weapons
Pickaxes and Lumber Axes can hit enemies with reduced damage scaled by the matching skill. Throwing heavy resources (rocks, lumber) at enemies also deals damage and scales with the Throwing skill. See Tools and Resource Management.
