Pokemon Rarity and Spawn Conditions
March 31, 2026 at 05:42 AM
Created comprehensive Pokemon Rarity and Spawn Conditions guide with rarity tiers, time-of-day, weather, and night-exclusive tables.
Every Pokemon in Pokopia has a rarity tier that determines how quickly it appears after you build its habitat. Rarity is assigned per habitat, not globally; a Pokemon may be Common in one habitat and Rare in another. You can check rarity by hovering over silhouettes in the Habitat Dex. Beyond rarity, many Pokemon require specific time-of-day or weather conditions before they will appear.
Tier | Spawn Speed | Examples |
|---|---|---|
Common | Appears within minutes of building the habitat | Bulbasaur, Charmander, Squirtle, Oddish, Geodude, Pidgey |
Rare | Takes significantly longer to appear | Ivysaur, Charmeleon, Wartortle, Slowbro, Marowak |
Very Rare | Can take hours of real time to spawn | Venusaur, Blastoise, Jumpluff, Volcarona, Clefairy, Tyranitar, Blaziken |
The higher the rarity, the longer you need to wait after building the correct habitat. Rarity does not affect the habitat recipe itself; it only affects how quickly the Pokemon arrives.
The game follows the Nintendo Switch 2 system clock with four periods:
Time Period | Hours | Notable Pokemon |
|---|---|---|
Morning | 6:00 AM to 12:00 PM | Bird and Bug-types most active; Grass and Normal-types common |
Day | 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM | Fire, Fighting, and Rock-types more active |
Evening | 6:00 PM to 12:00 AM | Psychic and Fairy-types appear; Eevee notably more common |
Night | 12:00 AM to 6:00 AM | Ghost-types almost exclusively appear at night; Dark-types significantly more common |

Weather in Pokopia is primarily player-controlled (restored by building specific structures and completing quests). Three weather states exist: Sunny, Cloudy (default), and Rain.

Charmeleon | Sunny or Cloudy | |
Charizard | Sunny or Cloudy | |
Cacnea | Sunny only | |

The majority of Pokemon (over 250 of 300) spawn under all weather conditions. Combined conditions also exist, such as "Night + Rain" for certain Dragon-types and "Sunny + Evening" for specific Fairy-types.
Build the correct habitat and then wait patiently; do not demolish and rebuild.
Check the Pokedex "Specialties and Likes" tab to view each Pokemon's time and weather preferences.
Ask nearby Pokemon directly; they sometimes hint at what a missing species prefers.
Use Pokemon with the Search specialty and the Dowsing Machine to locate hard-to-find habitat components.
Pokemon with the Fly specialty can fly you directly to any Pokemon you are searching for in the Pokedex.
During Limited-Time Events, event-exclusive Pokemon may override normal spawn conditions.
