Bread Bowl is a bread recipe in Pokemon Pokopia. It is prepared using the Bread Oven cooking station and has a spicy flavor profile. Eating this dish fully restores PP and powers up the Cut move. The soup-filled bread bowl delivers a hearty spicy meal that powers up the Cut move. The game notes it remains delicious even when burnt.

This recipe requires a Pokemon with the Burn specialty to be nearby while cooking. The Burn specialty is required to bake the bread bowl at the right temperature. Fire-type Pokemon like Charmander, Charmeleon, Charizard, Vulpix, and Growlithe have the Burn specialty.
Bread Bowl has a spicy flavor. Pokemon that prefer spicy flavors get a bigger Comfort Level boost from Bread Bowl. This is another spicy bread option alongside Carrot Bread, though Bread Bowl requires more preparation. Gifting food that matches a Pokemon's preferred flavor increases their Comfort Level significantly more than giving them a non-preferred flavor.

This is the most complex bread recipe. You need pre-cooked soup (any type) as an ingredient, which itself requires Fresh Water and additional ingredients cooked in a Pot. Then combine the soup with Wheat and another ingredient at the Bread Oven with the Burn specialty active. Most ingredients can be grown on your farm or picked up from the ground while exploring.
To prepare Bread Bowl, approach a Bread Oven and interact with it. Place the required ingredients in the cooking interface. Cooking is unlocked after rescuing Chef Dente during the Rocky Ridges storyline. Having Chef Dente or another Pokemon with the Party specialty nearby increases cooking yields.

When a Pokemon eats Bread Bowl, the Cut move receives a significant upgrade. The powered-up Cut has a larger area of effect, letting you clear vegetation and obstacles across a wider radius. More importantly, the enhanced Cut can slice through harder materials like metal, which the base version of the move cannot handle. This makes Bread Bowl particularly useful before tackling areas with metal barriers or dense overgrowth.
Bread Bowl plays a key role in unlocking the Waterfall move. In Sparkling Skylands, Gyarados is hiding below the first island near the Pokemon Center, behind the waterfalls. After learning Glide from Dragonite, return to the Pokemon Center island and drop down where the waterfalls flow. Swim behind the falls to find Gyarados lounging in a hidden pool.
Gyarados is drowsy and tells you it is "So sleepy..." when you first interact. It needs a hot meal to remember the Waterfall move. This triggers the "Bread Bowl, Please" request, which asks you to deliver a Bread Bowl. You have two options for obtaining one:
Quest | Details |
|---|---|
Cook it yourself | Combine Wheat, any soup (Simple Soup is the easiest), and any additional ingredient at a Bread Oven with a Burn specialty Pokemon nearby. |
Find a free supply | In Sparkling Skylands, look for a breakable wall near a destroyed area containing a stove and a locker. Behind it, a Poke Ball holds 3 Bread Bowls. |
Once you hand over the Bread Bowl, Gyarados eats it and remembers Waterfall. This move lets you transform into Lapras and swim upward through waterfalls, opening access to new areas throughout the game. Make sure to complete the "Make Bread" request first if you plan to cook the Bread Bowl yourself, since that request teaches you the basics of bread baking.
Like all cooked food, this dish can be offered to Mosslax to provide area-wide effects that last until 5:00 AM when the daily reset occurs. The specific effect depends on the food type: breads offered to Mosslax provide a boost related to the Cut move for all nearby Pokemon.
Bread Bowl is the most resource-intensive bread because it requires a pre-cooked soup. The most efficient pipeline: cook Simple Soup (Fresh Water + two of anything), then use that soup in the Bread Bowl recipe. Despite the complexity, Bread Bowl is a solid spicy option. If you need spicy bread specifically and already have soup in storage, this is straightforward. Otherwise, Carrot Bread is simpler for spicy bread.
