Comprehensive main game overview with all core systems and launch details
Neverness to Everness (commonly abbreviated as NTE) is a free-to-play supernatural urban open-world action RPG developed by Hotta Studio (a subsidiary of Perfect World Games) and published by Perfect World Games and Level Infinite. The game launches globally on April 29, 2026 across PC (Windows and Mac), PlayStation 5, iOS, and Android. Hotta Studio previously developed Tower of Fantasy, and Neverness to Everness represents the studio's second major title built on Unreal Engine 5 (specifically version 5.7).
The game is set in Hethereau, a modern city plagued by supernatural disturbances called Anomalies. Players take on the role of a newcomer Appraiser at the Eibon Antique Shop, investigating these Anomalies alongside a cast of Esper companions. Neverness to Everness features real-time action combat driven by the Esper Cycle elemental reaction system, a seamless open world with no loading screens, drivable vehicles, player housing, a crime and wanted system, gacha through the Scarborough Fair, and multiplayer co-op dungeons.
Neverness to Everness sets itself apart through a combination of open-world freedom and deep action RPG mechanics. The combat system centers on four-character teams with real-time character swapping, parry mechanics, and the Esper Cycle element reaction framework. Six elements (Cosmos, Anima, Incantation, Chaos, Psyche, and Lakshana) interact to produce powerful duo and trio reactions that reward thoughtful team composition.
The open world of Hethereau is fully seamless. Players can run, climb, wall-run, glide, swim, and drive a variety of vehicles from motorcycles to supercars, all without encountering loading screens. Exploration and traversal options also include public transit (buses and trains), Esper-powered abilities like anti-gravity flight, and unrestricted drone flying for aerial photography and scouting.
Beyond combat and exploration, the game offers an extensive roster of side activities and mini-games. Players can go fishing, play mahjong, run a shop, drive taxis, race vehicles, play rhythm games, and engage in companion bonding activities. The housing system allows players to furnish and decorate personal apartments, while the crime and wanted system adds dynamic consequences for in-game mischief.
At launch, Neverness to Everness features approximately 30 playable characters spread across six elemental affinities. Characters are categorized by rarity (S-Rank and A-Rank) and fulfill various combat roles including DPS, support, and tank. Notable launch characters include Nanally, Sakiri, Fadia, Edda, Laura, and Zero. Each character has a unique set of abilities, an Esper Cycle Passive that activates while off-field, and personal story content to unlock through companion progression.
The gacha system in Neverness to Everness uses a board-game format called the Scarborough Fair. Instead of traditional pulls, players roll dice to move around a looped tile board with branching paths. The limited banner guarantees the featured S-Class character with no 50/50 coin flip, and hard pity is set at 90 rolls. There is no separate weapon banner; weapon upgrades (Arcs) are earned through gameplay or the Tri-Key system. Most cosmetic outfits can be purchased with in-game currency.
Neverness to Everness supports full cross-platform play and cross-progression across PC, PS5, iOS, and Android. Multiplayer features include co-op dungeons, competitive PvP modes, real-time mahjong against other players, and open-world encounters with other Appraisers roaming Hethereau. The game also features guild systems and cooperative boss fights.
Pre-registration for Neverness to Everness surpassed 25 million sign-ups ahead of the April 29, 2026 global launch date. The game was announced following a series of beta tests that received positive feedback for world design, story quality, the Esper Gauge combat system, and a generous gacha model. The development history spans multiple showcase appearances at Gamescom, Tokyo Game Show, and other major gaming events.
