Overview
Neverness to Everness features six Esper elements arranged in a circular cycle. Every playable character and Esper is aligned with one of these elements. Combining characters of adjacent elements in the cycle triggers elemental reactions that add damage, debuffs, or utility effects to combat. The Esper Cycle meter is the central mechanic that governs when and how these reactions activate.
The six elements
Cosmos (white) is associated with celestial and spatial energy. Known Cosmos characters include Hotori (S-rank), Zero (S-rank), and Chiz (S-rank).
Anima (cyan) channels life force and natural energy. Known Anima characters include Nanally (S-rank), Jiuyuan (S-rank), and Mint (A-rank).
Incantation (pink) draws from ritualistic and spell-based power. Known Incantation characters include Sakiri (S-rank), Baicang (S-rank), and Adler (A-rank).
Chaos (purple) channels entropy and destructive force. Known Chaos characters include Lacrimosa (S-rank) and Daffodil (S-rank).
Psyche (blue) deals with mental and cognitive energy. Known Psyche characters include Fadia (S-rank) and Haniel (A-rank).
Lakshana (yellow) channels fortune and radiant energy. Known Lakshana characters include Hathor (S-rank) and Skia (A-rank).
Duo reactions
Combining two adjacent elements on the cycle triggers a duo reaction. Each pairing produces a distinct combat effect:
Blossom (Cosmos + Anima) spawns a peashooter that attacks targets automatically, dealing area damage.
Hexed (Anima + Incantation) triggers extra Unison damage based on recent elemental damage the target has taken.
Scorch (Incantation + Chaos) inflicts damage over time for 15 seconds.
Nova (Chaos + Psyche) marks a target, causing a large burst of Cognito damage after 5 seconds.
Stain (Psyche + Lakshana) makes the target take 50% more Psyche and Lakshana damage for 12 seconds.
Remora (Lakshana + Cosmos) marks the target, slowing their movement and attack speed.
Trio reactions
Advanced trio reactions occur when two duo reactions interact on the same target:
Charge triggers when Blossom hits a target already marked by Remora. Grants the active character ultimate energy with each hit.
Discord triggers when a target is under both Nova and Scorch simultaneously. Reduces a percentage of the target's break meter, accelerating stagger buildup.
Esper Cycle meter
The Esper Cycle meter charges through three methods: continuous attacking (gradual fill), using character skills (rate depends on the character's Cycle Rate stat), and successful parries (instant fill). Characters with high Cycle Rate skills, such as Zero and Fadia, can charge the meter almost instantly.
Every character has a unique Esper Cycle Passive that remains active as long as they are in the squad, even when off-field. Teams of four characters also unlock special bonuses based on the combination of Esper types in the party, rewarding thoughtful team composition.
