The August 2025 Update (version 0.3.0) launched on August 20, 2025, and centered on a brand-new world: Cahaya. Inspired by Bali, Indonesia, Cahaya is a free tropical destination with a resort-style atmosphere and a focus on self-sufficient living. The update also brought inZOI to macOS for the first time, added swimming pools to Build Mode, and introduced a batch of new outdoor skills and activities: fishing, farming, boating, snorkeling, and gem mining. It was the first update to add an entirely new playable world to the game.
Cahaya (originally called Kucingku during development) is a tropical world available to all players at no extra cost. The name "Cahaya" means "light" in Indonesian and Malay. Unlike Dowon and Bliss Bay, Cahaya has no job locations or schools. It is designed as a vacation and self-sufficient lifestyle destination where Zois focus on leisure, outdoor skills, and living off the land.
Cahaya is made up of three distinct islands:
Main Island: The largest area, featuring tropical housing lots, beachfront properties, and the bulk of the world's outdoor activity areas. Rivers and coastal fishing spots are scattered throughout.
Resort Island: A smaller island centered on resort amenities. Zois can relax at poolside areas, explore manicured gardens, and enjoy structured leisure activities.
Deserted Island: A remote, undeveloped island with raw natural terrain. It offers the most secluded fishing, foraging, and gem mining locations, appealing to players who want a wilderness survival feel.
The resort-themed setting encourages a different play style from the urban environments of Dowon. There is no pressure to find employment; instead, Zois earn their keep through farming, fishing, and other self-sufficient activities.
With v0.3.0, inZOI became available on macOS. Mac players can access the full game through the same storefront. Performance on Apple Silicon was highlighted as a priority, and the port supports the same graphical settings as the PC version, though some advanced ray tracing options may be limited depending on hardware. This significantly expanded the player base, as Mac users had been requesting support since the Early Access launch.
The v0.3.0 update introduced swimming pools as a new buildable feature on residential lots. Players can construct pools through Build Mode using either preset shapes or fully custom designs. Pool walls have adjustable steepness and height. Water levels can be raised or lowered, and players can apply different paint finishes and add underwater lighting. Pools can be placed both indoors and outdoors, opening up architectural possibilities like enclosed pool rooms and rooftop pools.
Swimming in pools drains energy over time. Zois who swim for too long risk exhaustion. Children develop an Aquatic Ability skill from pool use, while adults build the Swimming skill. Pool ladders, floats, and tubes are available as additional Build Mode objects.
Cahaya's coastal waters support snorkeling, a new activity exclusive to the tropical world. Zois can dive into the ocean from designated beach spots and explore underwater environments. While snorkeling, players encounter marine life including tropical fish, coral formations, and collectible items on the sea floor. The activity builds the Swimming skill and provides a peaceful alternative to land-based gameplay.
The Fishing skill was introduced in this update, available in both Cahaya and the existing worlds wherever rivers, lakes, or ocean access points exist. Zois cast a line at water locations and can catch a variety of fish species. Higher skill levels unlock better techniques, rarer catches, and increased efficiency. Fish can be cooked using the Cooking skill, sold for Meow, or displayed as decorations in the home.
Farming plots were added as new lot features, primarily in Cahaya but also available on residential lots in other worlds. Players can grow crops by planting seeds, watering them, and waiting for harvest cycles. Cahaya features banana trees that can be picked directly, a unique touch tied to the tropical setting. Harvested crops can be eaten raw, used in cooking recipes, or sold. The farming system adds a slow, rewarding loop to daily life, especially on Cahaya where it complements the self-sufficient lifestyle.
Six boat types were added with v0.3.0, available for use on Cahaya's waterways and coastline. Boats range from small rowboats and kayaks to larger motorized vessels. Players can explore the waters between Cahaya's three islands, fish from their boats, or simply cruise around for leisure. Each boat type handles differently, and some are better suited for open ocean travel while others work best on calm river waters.
Gem mining is a new resource-gathering activity. Mining spots are found primarily on Cahaya's Deserted Island and in select cave-like areas. Zois use a pickaxe to extract gems and minerals from rock deposits. The gems vary in rarity and value, with common stones appearing frequently and rare gems requiring higher skill or repeated visits. Mined gems can be sold, gifted, or used as home decorations.
