Overview
Fighting styles, formally called Flow styles, are the combat movesets available to the Flowborn in Honor of Kings: World. Each style is derived from a hero in the Honor of Kings MOBA and provides a complete combat identity with three active skills, an evasion ability, an ultimate, and a set of normal attacks. Players equip two styles at once through the dual-class system. This article provides deeper coverage of each individually confirmed style.
Primal Flow
Primal Flow is the default melee fighting style and the most versatile option available from the start of the game. It grants access to four interchangeable weapon types: ringblade, lance, hammer, and sword. Players can swap between these weapons mid-combo, creating hybrid attack chains that combine the speed of the ringblade with the raw power of the hammer.
Primal Flow plays like a traditional action game protagonist. Its gap-closing ability lets the player dash toward distant enemies to initiate combat, and its moveset emphasizes positioning, timing, and responsive dodges. During the Gamescom 2025 demo, Primal Flow was the first style most players experienced and was widely praised for its tight, intuitive controls.
The style's main strength is adaptability. The four-weapon arsenal means a player can adjust their approach mid-fight based on what the encounter demands: fast ringblade combos to build stagger, hammer strikes for burst damage during openings, lance reach for keeping aggressive enemies at bay, and sword balance for general-purpose fighting.
Ethereal Mistveil
Ethereal Mistveil is a ranged AoE (area of effect) fighting style. Its primary mechanic revolves around launching magic orbs that hover in the air near enemies. A secondary ability then sucks in nearby opponents toward the orbs, and a follow-up detonation deals area damage to everything caught in the cluster. Standard attacks use magic blasts that hit at range.
Ungeek's Gamescom 2025 hands-on described the swap from Primal Flow to Ethereal Mistveil mid-combo as feeling "smooth and natural." The style is particularly effective against encounters with multiple enemies, as the pull-and-detonate sequence gathers scattered mobs into tight clusters for efficient elimination. Against bosses, the orbs can be pre-positioned during the boss's attack phase and detonated during safe windows.
Ethereal Mistveil pairs naturally with melee styles in the dual-class system. A player can use Primal Flow for close-range single-target damage, then swap to Mistveil when adds spawn or when the boss moves to a dangerous zone that punishes melee proximity.
Chrono Anomaly
Chrono Anomaly manipulates time as its core mechanic. The style inflicts slow effects on enemies, reducing their movement and attack speed. More importantly, it lets the player stack attacks into a concentrated "bomb" that stores accumulated damage. When the player triggers the detonation, all the stored damage releases at once in a massive burst.
This style rewards patient, methodical play. The damage stacking phase takes time as the player builds up the bomb, but the payoff is one of the highest single-hit damage spikes available in the game. Chrono Anomaly is ideal for players who enjoy setup-and-execute gameplay loops, where the thrill comes from the detonation rather than sustained DPS.
Pairing Chrono Anomaly with a crowd-control style is a natural synergy. Use the paired style to group and slow enemies, swap to Chrono Anomaly to stack damage onto the immobilized targets, then detonate for massive results. The style also benefits from coordinated play in multiplayer content, where teammates can hold enemies in place while the Chrono Anomaly player builds their burst.
Reverse Flow
Reverse Flow transforms the player's abilities to mirror Sun Bin's kit from the Honor of Kings MOBA. Sun Bin is a support/controller character known for tactical, utility-oriented abilities. In World, the Reverse Flow style includes bombs that slow monsters, homing missiles that track targets automatically, and other ranged utility skills.
Reverse Flow occupies a unique niche as a tactical ranged style. Unlike Ethereal Mistveil's AoE focus, Reverse Flow emphasizes precision disruption and target tracking. The homing missiles are especially useful against fast-moving or evasive enemies, as they guarantee hits without requiring precise aim. The slowing bombs provide crowd control that benefits both the player and their allies.
The style's Sun Bin heritage gives it a support-adjacent identity, making it a reasonable option for players who want to contribute utility to a team without fully committing to a healing-focused Flow style.
Additional confirmed styles
Beyond the four styles covered above, numerous hero-specific styles have been confirmed through press previews and beta data. These include Li Bai's rapid aerial swordplay, Mulan's dual-form weapon switching, Wang Zhaojun's ice magic, Zhou Yu's fire zone control, Guan Yu's wide sweeping guandao attacks, and many more. The developers have stated that they plan to eventually include every Honor of Kings champion as a playable Flow style.

Unlocking and progression
Flow styles are unlocked through story progression, in-game activities, and purchases. Each style has its own skill tree with over 50 skills, allowing players to specialize their approach within a given style. Styles can be further enhanced through the relic system and gear that complements their strengths.
