Renown

Dated and surfaced the Renown gaps and the Beginner-tier blank
Renown is a standing level that Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave tracks for the player rather than for any one unit. It is not a currency you spend. It is a threshold the game checks in at least three separate places, which is what makes it worth its own page: a party can be strong enough for a fight and still be turned away from a certification exam, a recruit, or a road, because the number behind the player's name is too low.
Three sources are named in published material. All of them sit in the between-match routine rather than in battle, so Renown accrues while you are preparing for the next opponent rather than while you are fighting.
Source | Detail |
|---|---|
Story progress | Clearing chapters on a route raises it. |
Quests | Completed quests pay out gold and Renown together. |
Helping townsfolk | Errands and requests around Dagsion count toward it. |
The Adventure Guide | A hint track presented by Anna that explains the game systems and pays Renown for engaging with them. |
The clearest gate is on reclassing. Pre-launch readings of the exam screens put the unlock for Specialty-tier exams at Renown level 4, and every Advanced-tier class shown so far lists a common requirement of Renown level 8 alongside a recommended character level of 35 and the individual weapon-rank letters. Those figures were read off menu screens rather than taken from published documentation, so treat them as provisional. As of September 2026, nothing comparable has appeared for the Beginner tier, which is where most of the cast starts. Certification Exams sets out the letter grades themselves.
Recruiting a character outside the story runs on two bars at once: a support level with that character, raised through gifts and shared meals, and a Renown level. Recruitment covers the method. Individual characters set their own minimums, and hands-on coverage of a pre-launch build recorded several of them. The figures below come from that coverage rather than from published system copy, and one of them is explicitly route-dependent.
Character | Support Level | Renown Level | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
2 | 3 | The lowest pair recorded. | |
Not recorded | 4 | Recorded on the Fox route. | |
3 | 5 |

3 | 6 |
| |
3 | 8 | The worked example used in the recruitment segment. | |
Not recorded | 10 | The steepest figure recorded, and described as such. | |
Not recorded | Varies by route | The clearest published case of a requirement that moves with the path you are on. |
Renown reaches outside the city as well. Some checkpoints on the world map refuse passage while the level is too low, and the Urkulu Stronghold is the named example of a location gated that way. That makes Renown a soft progression lock on exploration as well as on units.
As of September 2026, no official presentation, press release or system explainer describes a Renown cap, how much any individual action pays, or whether the level carries between the four routes the way the cross-route bonuses on the Pale Raven's Perch do. Every number on this page was read off a pre-launch build by someone playing it, and none of it has appeared in published system documentation.
