The Hunter is one of the five Beginner classes in Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave. It is a light infantry class that switches between a sword and a bow, and its published description sets it out as a warrior stalking prey on the battlefield, strong in Dexterity and Speed.

Role in Battle
Two weapon types on a Beginner class is unusual, and it is the whole point of the Hunter. A bow gives it reach and an answer to fliers; a sword gives it something to do when an enemy closes to melee range, which a pure bow user cannot manage. The Dexterity and Speed lean pushes it toward hitting often and following up rather than trading heavy blows, and there is no defensive padding to go with it.
Sword and Bow are also the two proficiencies that feed the Infantry training group, so a Hunter builds toward the sword-and-bow classes further up the ladder. The Rogue and Archer classes in the Specialty tier and the Forest Knight and Sniper classes in the Advanced tier all sit in that direction. Reaching any of them means passing a certification exam.
The class is also where Leda lands early in her own path. The released game moves her into the Hunter class automatically during the Class Upgrade and License tutorial in Chapter 5 of her path, so her first certified class is set for her rather than chosen.
Name
This entry uses the kanji form 猟兵 (Ryōhei) for the class, which reads literally as hunting soldier and matches the way European armies have used the word Hunter as a designation for light infantry. The English class description has since been published and reads that the Hunter is adept with both swords and bows, drawing upon dexterity and speed to stalk foes, which matches the Japanese wording rather than replacing it.
Class Skill
One class skill has been named for the Hunter, Hunting Basics. As of September 2026, its effect has not been documented on this wiki. The Beginner classes that have a named skill follow the same shape as the Gladiator with Attack Basics and the Diviner with Magic Basics, and only the Diviner's carries a reported effect, so nothing is guessed at here for the other two.
Class Stats
As of September 2026, no base stats, growth rates or stat modifiers for the Hunter have appeared on any class screen. The movement value above is the only figure available. Stat tables circulating for a class of this name belong to other titles and do not describe this one.
