Overview

Reed Devil Minion is a Story NPC in Crimson Desert. These creatures belong to the faction of the Demon of the Reed Fields. Those untouched by the suffering of illness may look on it with contempt, but to the patients of Sunset Valley, the Reed Devil is a symbol of hope. The Reed Field's foul-smelling minions do not fall, no matter how often they are stabbed or cut, because they are evil spirits inhabiting scarecrow bodies.
These scarecrow minions are encountered during the approach to the Reed Devil boss fight and play a critical role in the second phase of the battle. They represent one of the more unusual enemy types in the game, blending supernatural horror with the agricultural setting of the reed fields.

Location
Reed Devil Minions are encountered in the reed fields outside Sunset Valley in the Hernand region. Players first encounter them while riding up the pass toward the Reed Field during Chapter 3 of the main story. Several groups of minions patrol the road leading to the Reed Devil boss arena.
Role in the Reed Devil Boss Fight
Reed Devil Minions play a central role in the Dance with the Devil quest and the subsequent Reed Devil boss fight. The encounter has multiple phases:
Approach Phase
While making your way to the Reed Devil's arena, several encounters with minions await along the road. It is best not to fight these mobs for too long, as doing so is likely to deplete your food reserves. You can skip these fights altogether by skirting the edge of the road or simply running past the enemies. Conserving healing items is critical because the upcoming boss fight is one of the hardest encounters in Chapter 3.
Boss Phase 2: The Scarecrow Totems
After depleting the Reed Devil's first health bar, five scarecrow totems spawn around the arena. These totems are marked on the minimap as bright orange dots. Simultaneously, four Reed Devil clones appear and attack the player. The objective during this phase is to destroy all five scarecrow totems as quickly as possible.
Use the Turning Slash ability (hold Left Bumper and Right Bumper on controller, or Left and Right mouse buttons) to destroy each totem in a single charged strike.
Run and dodge from scarecrow to scarecrow. Do not attempt to fight the Reed Devil clones; focus entirely on destroying the totems.
Once all five scarecrow totems have been destroyed, the clones vanish and the fight returns to a one-on-one encounter with the Reed Devil.
The Blinding Flash ability is invaluable in this fight, as it temporarily stuns the boss and prevents dangerous charged knife attacks, creating offensive windows.
Combat Tips
Reed Devil Minions have very low health (26 HP) and go down in one or two hits. However, their strength lies in numbers and their connection to the totem mechanic.
The scarecrow bodies inhabited by evil spirits have a thematic resistance to conventional attacks. In gameplay, this manifests as their ability to respawn endlessly if nearby totems are left standing.
Stock up on at least 50 to 100 Grilled Meat (80 HP each) before starting the Reed Devil encounter. This is one of the hardest fights in Chapter 3, and the boss can kill Kliff in one or two hits if your gear is underleveled.
A fast travel point is available near the Reed Devil's arena, which you can unlock for convenient returns if you need to resupply.
