Overview

Oliver is a member of the Greymanes who serves as the dedicated dye vendor at the Greymane Camp in Crimson Desert. After being recruited to the camp, he sets up a Dyehouse where players can purchase dyes and customize the color and material appearance of their equipment. Oliver is one of three specialized NPCs who arrive at camp through the Solid Foundation questline, alongside Connor and Eric.
Oliver's Dyehouse is unique among the game's dye shops. While other Dyehouses across Pywel are limited to their regional color palettes, Oliver can apply dyes from every region you have unlocked, making the camp Dyehouse the only location where all learned colors are available in one place.
Location
Oliver operates the Dyehouse at Greymane Camp in Howling Hills. His tent is identifiable by the hanging cloth samples and dye bottles arranged on a workbench outside.
Recruitment
Oliver is not available at camp from the start. Recruiting him requires completing a chain of prerequisites:
Complete the Embers of Return questline (all 7 quests)
Complete the Gathered Will questline (all 10 quests), including the Grounds of the Sunrise Greymane faction quests
Progress through the Solid Foundation questline
Complete the Rumor at Inksworth Bindery quest, which triggers Oliver's actual recruitment
Finish all Greymane Commissions for Oliver, Connor, and Eric for full functionality
The Rumor at Inksworth Bindery becomes available after the third camp expansion. This expansion is tied to completing all of the Gathered Will faction quests, including the one that requires growing an apple tree. Once the third expansion is done, the rumor appears and kicks off Oliver's recruitment.
This questline brings three new NPCs to the camp simultaneously:
NPC | Role | Service |
|---|---|---|
Oliver | Dye Merchant | Equipment color and material customization |
Accessories Vendor | ||
Barber | Hairstyle, beard, eyebrow, and tattoo customization |
Keep upgrading your camp and completing Greymane Commissions to recruit all three. If Oliver appears but refuses to interact properly, it typically means the Connor and Eric questlines have not been completed yet.
Services
Dyehouse
At Oliver's Dyehouse, players can customize the visual appearance of their gear using the Dye System. The following equipment categories can be dyed:
Equipment Type | What Can Be Customized |
|---|---|
Color and material of character armor pieces (metal plates, leather straps, cloth layers) | |
Color customization of equipped weapons | |
Horse Gear | Recolor horse armor and equipment |
War Robot | Customize the color of War Robot components |

Each piece of gear is broken down into several dyeable parts, represented by a column of circles in the customization interface. This means you can dye the metal plates, leather straps, and cloth under-layers of a single chest piece in completely different colors. All dye customization is purely cosmetic and does not affect equipment stats.
Shadow Grey Dye
Oliver sells the exclusive Shadow Grey dye for 1,500 copper. Shadow Grey is the most expensive dye in the game and the only one that cannot be crafted or found anywhere else. It is completely unique to Oliver's shop at the Greymane Camp Dyehouse.
Regional Dye Specialization
Every Dyehouse merchant in the game is a specialist who works with specific regional colors. For example, a Hernandian Red specialist cannot apply a Bright Yellow dye, even if you have learned that color. There are ten different dye specialists scattered across Pywel, each covering their own regional palette. Oliver's camp Dyehouse is unique because it serves as a universal hub, letting you apply any dye color you have learned from any region.
Obtaining Dyes
Dyes can be acquired in several ways:

Purchase from Oliver: Buy dyes directly from the Dyehouse using silver
Find in the world: Dye bottles are scattered throughout Pywel, though most belong to someone else. You will need to wear a mask and steal them
Craft at a cauldron: Dyes can be made from insects and flowers at a cauldron. Even without a recipe, you can select "improvise" to experiment and discover new colors
Once you acquire a dye, press "use" on it in your inventory to learn it permanently. The learned color then appears in the dye menu the next time you visit any compatible Dyehouse.
Related NPCs at Camp
Connor: Accessories vendor, recruited alongside Oliver through the Solid Foundation questline
Eric: Barber who offers hairstyle, beard, eyebrow, and tattoo customization
