Malicebane I is a standard passive Abyss Core in Crimson Desert. Mighty foes in Crimson Desert refers to bosses, elite enemies, and other powerful adversaries that are classified as significantly stronger than standard mobs. This includes story bosses, world bosses, minibosses encountered in the open world, and certain elite enemy types in Abyss-corrupted zones.
The 4.0% damage boost applies to all damage dealt to qualifying targets, including normal attacks, combo finishers, skills, and even damage from other socketed Abyss Gear effects. While 4.0% may sound modest, boss fights in Crimson Desert tend to be long, and the cumulative damage increase over the course of a multi-minute encounter adds up to a meaningful advantage.
Malicebane I is one of the few Abyss Cores that directly targets boss damage, making it a high-value pickup for players who struggle with boss encounters. It does not affect damage against regular enemies, so it is best treated as a swap-in option specifically for boss fights rather than a permanent fixture in your loadout.

Found on the Wolf's Fang, the one-handed sword of Jian (former leader of the Greymanes), obtained during the Chapter 7 main quest "Podium of Resolve." Can be extracted from the Wolf's Fang at any Witch merchant and re-socketed into a different weapon. Also obtainable by completing the "Into The Barrage" Sealed Abyss Artifact challenge.
Standard Abyss Cores like Malicebane I can be acquired from Witches who serve as merchants at various camps and settlements across the world. Check with any Witch merchant when you visit a new area, as their inventory may include this core.
Socket Malicebane I into any compatible equipment piece (Weapons) to gain its +4.0% Damage to Mighty Foes bonus. The effect is always active as long as the core remains socketed and the equipment is worn.
Socket Malicebane I specifically before boss fights and swap it out for a general-purpose core (like Destruction I or Gale I) when exploring and fighting regular enemies.
The Wolf's Fang also comes with Attack Speed Lv 2 built in, making it a strong weapon in its own right for the Chapter 7 portion of the game.
The +4.0% bonus applies to all damage types against mighty foes, including skill damage and Abyss Gear proc damage.
Stack with Destruction cores for maximum boss damage output. A weapon with Malicebane I plus Destruction II provides both flat attack and percentage-based boss damage.
Completing the Into The Barrage challenge provides an additional copy, allowing you to socket Malicebane I into multiple weapons if desired.
