Saddles are essential mount gear in Crimson Desert that you equip on your horse. They come in various styles and rarities, from the basic Shabby Horse Saddle to legendary pieces like the Delesyian Saddle and Hagmund Saddle.

Saddles are one of five mount gear slots available for your horse in Crimson Desert. The five equipment types are: Saddle, Stirrups, Horseshoes, Champron, and Barding. Each slot provides different stat bonuses:
Saddle increases maximum Horse Health
Horseshoes add Health regeneration per second
Champron increases Horse Attack
To equip a saddle, summon and mount your horse, open your inventory, and switch to the mount inventory tab (R2 on controller). Select the saddle from your items and equip it. Picking up a saddle does not automatically equip it; you must manually assign it.
Saddles come in five tiers, corresponding to rarity levels. Higher-tier saddles provide greater stat bonuses and are generally found in later regions of the game:
Tier | Rarity | Examples | Availability |
|---|---|---|---|
T1 | Common | ||
T2 | Uncommon | Delmar, Blue Scout, Purple Scout, Exclaire, Hyperion, Varnian, Wells's Warhorse | Various saddleries, Twitch Drops, edition bonuses |
T3 | Rare | Sahareum, Servano | Mid-game saddleries |
T4 | Epic | Berkei, Branique, Hernandian | |
T5 | Legendary | Delesyian, Demenissian, Hagmund | Delesyian Saddlery, Demeniss Saddlery (Fiona), late-game vendors |
Saddles are sold at Saddlery shops located throughout Pywel. Each saddlery is run by a named NPC and stocks region-specific gear:
Saddlery | NPC | Location | Notable Saddles |
|---|---|---|---|
Hernand Saddlery | Northeast of City of Hernand | ||
Equinsher | |||
Eldred's Saddlery | North of City of Pailune | ||
Demeniss Saddlery | North of Demeniss Castle | Demenissian gear | |
Varnia Saddlery | NPC | Near Alabaster Bridge, Varnia | |
Delesyian Main Saddlery | NPC | Near Finhold Netmakers, south of Delesyian Institute |
All saddles can be refined at a blacksmith to permanently increase their base stats. Refinement uses Tempering Materials and does not cost silver. Each piece of gear has up to ten refinement levels. Early levels require basic ores and timber, while higher levels demand rare materials and Abyss Artifacts. Visit Blacksmith Turnali in the center north district of Hernand to begin refining your mount gear.
A practical saddle upgrade path through the game:
Early game: Start with the Shabby Horse Saddle from Annabella in Hernand, then upgrade to the Delmar Saddle (available southeast of Fernand) for +50 Health.
Hernand region: Pick up the Hernandian Saddle (+250 Health) from Annabella's shop alongside the Hernandian Champron and Stirrups.
Mid-game: Transition to the Berkei Saddle (T4, 1,873 silver) from Eldred's Saddlery in Pailune, or the Branique Saddle (T4, 673 silver) for a budget option.
End-game: Acquire a Legendary saddle: the Delesyian (5,020 silver, highest stats), Demenissian (2,340 silver, from Fiona in Demeniss), or Hagmund (2,340 silver). Refine it to +10 for maximum performance.
Saddles are essential mount gear. Equip a saddle to unlock your horse's full potential.
Higher-rarity saddles may provide additional comfort or speed benefits during long rides.

Patches 1.06.00 and 1.07.00 introduced a separate line of saddles for the Special Mounts system, sold at the same regional saddleries that stock horse tack. Each special-mount species type has its own saddle that fits all rideable members of that species. The horse saddle directory above remains unchanged.
A single wolf saddle fits every rideable wolf, including the Large Wolf (1.07), the Large White Wolf (1.07), and other special-mount wolf variants. The saddle is stocked at two locations near Hernand:
Saddlery | Region | Notes |
|---|---|---|
Hernand main town stable | [object Object] | The main saddlery on the north side of the city. Carries the wolf saddle alongside its standard horse tack inventory. |
[object Object] | Near the Greyman camp. Carries the same wolf saddle as the Hernand stable. |
Bear saddles fit any rideable bear variant tamed through the Special Mounts system, including the Brown Bear, the Clawed Bear, and the additional bear variants introduced in 1.07. Bear saddles are sold by two saddleries.
Saddlery | Region | Notes |
|---|---|---|
Hernand main town stable | [object Object] | Stocks the bear saddle at 3 Silver alongside horse tack. |
[object Object] | The Calphade saddlery (Driana) stocks the bear saddle for players progressing through the region. |
The Giant Iguana Saddle is the species-specific saddle for the Iguana Special Mount. It is sold at the Tash Kalpha tannery and saddle vendor, located next to the same fighting pit where you steal the iguana itself. Buying the saddle and stealing the mount can be handled on the same trip.
Saddlery | Region | Notes |
|---|---|---|
Tash Kalpha tannery / saddle vendor | Tash Kalpha (Crimson Desert) | Stands next to the town fighting pit. Same town has the iguana available via Steal with a lantern. |
The Leaping Kuku Bird Saddle fits the Leaping Kuku Bird Special Mount that hatches from the egg recovered inside the Blood Steel Camp fortress. The patch notes confirm two vendor sites for this saddle.
Saddlery | Region | Notes |
|---|---|---|
Drieghan-region saddle vendor | Drieghan | Closest vendor to the Blood Steel Camp hatching nest. |
Calphade saddlery | Calphade | Cross-stocked alongside the bear-saddle line for players who do not want to detour through Drieghan. |
The Sandwalk Camel Saddle fits the Sandwalk Camel Special Mount unlocked through the Red Wind Merchant Guild side quest "Outlaws of the Desert". The saddle ships from the camel-saddle line stocked at the desert-belt saddleries.
Saddlery | Region | Notes |
|---|---|---|
Varnia saddlery | Varnia | Closest saddlery to the desert routes the camel is best suited for. |
Varnia stable | Varnia | Secondary stocking site; check inventory before travelling to the main saddlery. |
The Tiger Saddle fits the rideable Tiger Special Mount captured east of Demenissia. It is part of the large-cat saddle line introduced in Patch 1.06.00.
Saddlery | Region | Notes |
|---|---|---|
Demenissia saddlery | Demenissia | Closest saddlery to the tiger pride spawn island. |
Delesyia saddlery | Delesyia | Alternate stocking site for players based west of the spawn. |
The Lion Saddle fits the rideable Lion Special Mount. The same large-cat saddle line covers the lion, and the closest vendors sit near the Vanya pride and the Demenissia Circus.
Saddlery | Region | Notes |
|---|---|---|
Varnia saddlery | Varnia | Closest saddlery to the Vanya pride spawn where the legendary white lion also appears at night. |
Demenissia saddlery | Demenissia | Useful for players who tame a circus captive instead of a wild pride male. |
The Red-Feathered Raptor Saddle fits the Red-Feathered Raptor Special Mount knocked off enemy riders in the Tash Kalpha area. The saddle is stocked at saddleries serving the Tash Kalpha and Hernand belts.
Saddlery | Region | Notes |
|---|---|---|
Hernand saddlery | Hernand | Closest mainline saddlery to the Tash Kalpha outposts where the raptor spawns. |
Tash Kalpha tannery / saddle vendor | Tash Kalpha | Same vendor that sells the Giant Iguana Saddle. |
Patch 1.06.00 added an unequip option for special-mount saddles. When the saddle is unequipped the mount appears bare-back, which some players prefer for a cleaner look on predator mounts. The unequipped state has no stat penalty in the patch notes. The same option also applies to the reins accessory introduced in 1.07.
Other special-mount species (mountain goats, deer, kuku birds, iguanas, camels, warthogs) have their own saddles stocked across the saddlery network. See Special Mounts for the full species-to-saddlery mapping and Saddleries for the saddlery directory.
