Reshanta

Added an official map image
Reshanta is the void between the two halves of Atreia, and the only place the two factions meet. Because the global service runs faction-separated servers, that is literal: Elyos and Asmodian players do not share an open world, they share Reshanta. It is also called the Abyss, and the two names are used interchangeably.
This page covers the place. PvP and the Abyss covers the rules and the reward structures.
Reshanta is not one map. It is a stack of contested fields with different rules, and the flight rules differ between them, which is the point: the layer you are in decides whether the fight is three-dimensional.

Layer | Flight | Notes | |
|---|---|---|---|
Chaotic Lower Reshanta | Full flight | Yes | The open aerial battlefield, and the layer that carries the franchise's identity |
Chaotic Middle Reshanta | Restricted; gliding, walking or running | Yes | Added in Season 3. Ground positioning and chokepoint control matter more here. An updraft and a raised fall-death height were added to it in April 2026. |
Reduced flight-power cost inside the zone | No | Added July 1, 2026 with Chapter 1. Item level and Combat Power are capped, and there are no bosses. |
There is also an Abyss Corridor instance and a scheduled Abyss Rift Zone event map that sit alongside the open layers.
The official guidebook describes the Abyss as fields of floating rock and the remains of fortresses destroyed in the Last War. Each layer has faction bases with their own Kibelisk and Monolith:
Layer | Base | Position |
|---|---|---|
Lower | Primum Base (프리뭄 거점; provisional English) | Northeast of the lower layer |
Lower | Teminon Base (테미논 거점; provisional English) | Southwest of the lower layer |
Middle | Eastern Stem of Latesran (라테스란의 동쪽 줄기; provisional English) | East of the middle layer |
Middle | Western Stem of Latesran (라테스란의 서쪽 줄기; provisional English) | West of the middle layer |
Some zones of the middle layer are special: no player's position shows on the minimap there, whether enemy, ally or party member. On May 27, 2026 four islands with monsters were added to the middle layer, each reached by a nearby updraft and each hiding other players' icons. Windstreams were added to Chaotic Middle Reshanta on April 15, 2026. The bases' Kibelisks and Monoliths were given a new look on March 25, 2026. The bosses that spawn in these layers are covered on Abyss Bosses.
Chaotic Upper Reshanta (표층, the surface layer) was introduced in the guidebook's Chapter 1 summary as an Abyss for newer players, open only to characters at or below 400,000 combat power. Since October 7, 2026 a character that goes over the entry limits after entering, for example by changing gear, dies immediately and is still removed from the map with an hour taken off its time.
The newest layer is the odd one out, and it is worth understanding before you overshoot it. Entry is capped rather than gated: characters above roughly item level 4,300 or roughly 400,000 Combat Power cannot come in, and a character that crosses the ceiling during a session is removed from the field and given a time penalty. The layer carries no bosses and no Artifacts, so there is nothing in it to farm at the top end.
The design intent is a bracket rather than a progression step: somewhere newer characters can fight the faction war without meeting fully geared opponents. See Item Level and Combat Power.
Artifacts are the territorial objectives of the lower and middle layers. Holding one gives the controlling faction a standing benefit, post-conquest bosses spawn after each flip, and the faction that holds the ground when the boss dies takes the reward.
Artifact standings and the Abyss Corridor reset on the server rematch cycle, so a faction that dominates at the end of one period does not open the next one already holding everything.
Abyss access runs on a weekly time budget rather than an entry count, and contribution accrues in real time while you are fighting. From July 1, 2026 the Korean and Taiwanese build moved Abyss rewards from a server-wide contribution pool to per-class ranking.
Artifact conquest is the closest thing AION 2 has to a fortress siege, and it exists in the lower and middle layers only. A faction that loses every Artifact gets an Abyss Corridor, a come-back instance that opens for the losing side, and Abyss Points earned in it sit outside the daily PvE cap.
Both Artifact control and Corridor state reset when servers rematch, which happens on a cycle rather than on a schedule players set.
Reshanta has its own field bosses. NCsoft listed three in its December 2025 Korean field boss notice, with the schedule below; boss names are the English names the game uses, and the two Korean place names have no English rendering yet. From April 2026 on the Korean build, field bosses that appear in the Abyss leave the field 30 minutes after they spawn.
Boss | Where | Original schedule | From December 17, 2025 |
|---|---|---|---|
Watcher Kaira | Lower layer | Every hour, with a chance to appear | Every hour; the doubled appearance chance from the December 2025 event was made permanent |
Argo, the Spirit King | 시엘의 날개 군도 and 시엘의 오른쪽 날개 | Every 24 hours | Every 12 hours |
Guardian Lord Nahma | 에레슈란타의 뿌리 | Sundays | Saturdays and Sundays |
Later Korean updates changed this schedule. From January 21, 2026 three Guardian Lord Nahma spawn in the lower layer instead of one, and two Enraged Guardian Lord Nahma appear at set points in the middle layer. From February 2026 Nahma appeared at 22:00 on Saturdays and Sundays instead of 20:00, and since April 22, 2026 both Nahma bosses appear at 22:00 on Fridays and Sundays. In April 2026 NCsoft fixed a bug that made Watcher Kaira spawn at every hour on the hour, keeping her appearance chance at 20%, and the September 2, 2026 update changed her to a guaranteed spawn every four hours.
The Abyss also has its own Monolith, Ereshkigal's Monolith, levelled with Empyrean Trace: Reshanta. Since December 2025 its level bonuses are PvP stats rather than the general stats of the territory Monoliths. See Monoliths and Empyrean Traces and Field Bosses.
Rule | Detail on the Korean and Taiwanese build |
|---|---|
Middle layer time budget | Seven hours a week, rechargeable an hour at a time with a consumable |
Population caps | Lower and middle layer entry caps have been reduced for stability; the capped surface layer holds 300 per faction and 600 in total |
Rank bypass | Players above a set Abyss rank can always enter regardless of the population cap |
Flight | The chaotic middle layer does not permit flight at all |
NCsoft's own English material uses Reshanta, and names the layers Middle Reshanta and Chaotic Upper Reshanta. The Korean client does not use that word: it calls the region 에레슈란타, which transliterates as Ereshranta, and names the layers 하층 (lower), 중층 (middle) and 표층 (surface). The English rendering of 표층 in NCsoft's own press is Upper.
Both are correct in their own language, and this is not franchise bleed: Reshanta is NCsoft's published English name for AION 2's abyss, not an import from the first game. Translated Korean coverage adds further renderings including Ereshulanta and Ereshkigal variants. Reshanta is the form used on this wiki, and it should not be "corrected" to Ereshranta.
PvP and the Abyss for the rules and rewards. World and Regions for the world structure. Aerial Combat and Flight for how flight works. Balaur for the third force.
