Field bosses are the named bosses that spawn in the open world rather than inside an instance. Each one sits in a specific area of a territory, comes back on its own respawn timer, and can be fought by anyone who is there when it appears. Verteron and Altgard each carry two dozen of them, and Chapter 1. Lands of Sand and Snow added more in Eltnen and Morheim.
Since February 2026 the Korean build's World Map has a Field Named tab under Exploration that lists the field bosses and named monsters, where they spawn, and how long until the next spawn. The Transparent Map overlay added in July 2026 marks field bosses as well.
Field Named in the Guidebook
The official guidebook calls these monsters field named (필드 네임드) and places them in every part of the world: Elysea, Asmodae and the Abyss. They are stronger than ordinary monsters, appear far less often, and can drop rarer loot. Loot goes to every character with contribution to the kill, not only to the one who landed the last hit.
Map panel | What it shows |
|---|---|
Field named list | Every field named, where it spawns and the time remaining until it appears |
Map icons | An icon at each field named's location on the World Map |
Loot panel | The main drops of the selected field named |
Since October 7, 2026 the World Map icon of a field named also shows whether you have finished its kill achievement: a badge appears on the boss icon while the achievement is incomplete and disappears once it is done, or if the boss has no achievement. Player guides note that kill achievements and titles are a main reason to hunt field bosses (at launch, some Duty Scrolls also asked for field boss kills, until NCsoft changed them on December 17, 2025); see Achievements and Titles and Duty Quests.
How They Work
The details below come from the Korean service's patch notes. NCsoft has not published field boss timers for the global service as of October 7, 2026.
Date (Korean build) | Change |
|---|---|
November 26, 2025 | Field named monsters were strengthened. |
December 3, 2025 | Abyss field named monsters and dimensional core bosses were strengthened. |
December 10 to 17, 2025 | A Field Boss Raid event made field bosses appear twice as often for a week: most respawn timers were halved, and the Abyss bosses got a higher appearance chance or extra spawn days instead. |
December 17, 2025 | The faster event timers became the permanent schedule, and field boss maximum health was raised. The Abyss bosses, Eternal Gartua, Immortal Gartua, Silent Dartan, Soul Ruler Kashapa and High Commander Lagta were left out of the health increase. A bug that spawned too many poison pools and spinning traps in field boss fights was fixed. |
December 24, 2025 | Damage tolerance raised for field named monsters, Abyss bosses and dimensional cores. |
February 4, 2026 | The Field Named tab was added to the World Map. |
March 11, 2026 | Unique-grade exclusive equipment dropped by field bosses can take potential enhancement, and can be used as material to convert into potential enhancement stones. |
April 22, 2026 | Field bosses that appear in the Abyss now leave the field 30 minutes after they spawn. |
May 27, 2026 | Health of field named monsters and field bosses in Verteron and Altgard was raised by roughly two to three times. |
July 1, 2026 | New field bosses were added in Eltnen and Morheim, each with its own Painting collectible and exclusive equipment, and every character with contribution to a kill now receives an additional reward box containing equipment and Sync Stone Fragments (Unique). |
October 7, 2026 | Kill-achievement badges added to field named icons on the World Map. |

Shared Names
Silent Dartan, Soul Ruler Kashapa and High Commander Lagta exist on both sides: each faction meets its own copy in its own territory, on the same 6 or 12 hour timers. The Gartua pair mirror each other as well, Eternal Gartua on the Elyos Eternal Isle and Immortal Gartua on the Asmodian Immortal Isle, both on 12 hour timers. High Commander Lagta shares his name with the Lagta Brigade and Lagta Fortress; see Balaur.
Exclusive Gear and Potential Enhancement
On March 11, 2026 the Unique-grade exclusive equipment that drops from the strongest field bosses became eligible for potential enhancement, and it can also be used as material for potential enhancement stones. NCsoft's March 4, 2026 notes named the bosses concerned: Silent Dartan, Soul Ruler Kashapa, High Commander Lagta, Eternal and Immortal Gartua, and the Abyss bosses Watcher Kaira, Argo, the Spirit King and Guardian Lord Nahma.
Eltnen and Morheim
The Chapter 1 update added new field bosses to Eltnen and Morheim on the Korean service, but NCsoft's notes do not name them, and their names are not in the game data mirror checked for this page, so they are not listed here yet.
Abyss Field Bosses
The Abyss has its own field bosses, covered on Abyss Bosses; Reshanta describes where they appear.
