The Shipwright's Workshop handles recipes including 12-Pounders, 24-Pounders, 36-Pounders, 12-Pounders: Tempered, 24-Pounders: Devastating, 36-Pounders: Perfectly Ordered, Hull Bracing, Boarding Gear, and Combat Repair Kits.
The Shipwright's Workshop handles every ship-fitting recipe in Windrose. Cannons, cannon-tier upgrades, hull bracings, boarding gear, and Combat Repair Kits all route through this station. It shares the Water Barrel extender with the Weaponsmith Workshop, which is why the two stations commonly appear side-by-side in forge buildings. The Shipwright's Workshop is unlocked by completing the early quest "How My Sea Adventure Began," which is also why this station tends to be the second or third building any player places after the Bonfire and Workbench.
The Shipwright's Workshop and the Wharf split ship management between them. The workshop handles crafting and upgrading the physical part. The Wharf handles equipping, removing, and repairing the actual ship. Trying to do the whole loop from memory is where most players waste time.
Use the Wharf to remove the cannon, hull bracing, or boarding gear from the ship. Carry that part back to the Shipwright's Workshop and upgrade it there. Return to the Wharf and equip the upgraded part again before sailing. If the ship was destroyed mid-process, repair it at the Wharf first and then re-equip the upgraded part.
This workflow also applies to rare faction gear. Unlocking a special cannon or hull mod through a faction vendor does not skip the workshop step: the plan gives you access to the part, but the workshop still crafts and upgrades it before the Wharf can mount it.
On a fresh naval run, the Shipwright's Workshop feeds four upgrade paths and not all of them deserve equal priority. Boarding Gear goes first because underleveled crew makes boarding slow and dangerous; even if boarding tools trail the ship hull by a few levels, they cannot be ignored. Hull Bracing goes second because more durability and better repair-kit value keep runs alive long enough for loot and turn-ins to matter. Cannons go third: keep them current for the region once survival is stable, because upgraded cannons shorten fights only if the hull lasts long enough to use them. Combat Repair Kits go last in priority but should be carried in extras before hunting chest ships or high-level convoys; they are the safety valve when a boarding attempt goes sideways.
The workshop is quest-gated. Complete How My Sea Adventure Began to unlock the build menu entry.
Share a single Water Barrel with the Weaponsmith Workshop in a shared forge; both stations pick up the extender simultaneously.
Cannon tier upgrades (Tempered, Devastating, Perfectly Ordered) are the highest-yield recipes here. Queue them overnight once the refining camp has the ingots.
Place the workshop inside the same building as the Wharf to minimize ship-fit transport time between fittings crafting and ship application.
Roof requirement is strict. The workshop will not function under partial roof coverage; plan a fully enclosed forge building before starting.
