Verified Effect

Hull Compatibility

36-pounders are the endgame caliber. Exclusive to the Blackbeard Frigate hull, which is the only ship that can mount this caliber.

Playstyle

Tempered cannons reward patience. The 6-second delay gate means a player who fires immediately after reload loses the 40% damage bonus; the player who waits the full 6 seconds before firing lands a burst volley that hits 40% harder. In practice this punishes reflexive firing during the opening of an engagement; it rewards held volleys timed to the enemy's turn window. Pair with Naval Tactics I: Ambush (130% damage on the next volley after 2 minutes without damage dealt or taken) for an opening-volley specialist loadout.

Comparison to Other Variants

• Devastating variant: stacks Raked for 25 seconds (up to 3 stacks) to raise damage dealt to the target. Strong for long hauler fights.

• Tempered (this variant): rewards the 6-second delay before firing with +40% next-volley damage. Best for burst opens and timed volleys.

• Perfectly Ordered variant: rewards chain-fire rotations with +30% reload speed for 22s. Different playstyle from Tempered.

Acquiring the Plan

The Tempered blueprint is stocked by the Rogue Buccaneers Provisioner once your Buccaneers standing reaches Level 4. Reputation rises through faction tasks and bounty turn-ins across the tiers at 0, 100, 400, and 1000 points. A copy costs 500 Piastre. One copy is enough per character: reading it permanently adds the recipe to the Shipwright's Workshop menu, after which the paper is gone.
