Items in The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales fall into two categories: Recovery Items, which restore Life or grant temporary buffs, and Key Items, which are used for story progression, exploration, and unlocking new areas. Items cannot be sold.
Recovery Items
Recovery Items are consumables used in and out of combat. Before they can be carried, they must be stored in a Glass Vial: the more Empty Glass Vials Elliot owns, the more recovery items he can bring into the field. Once a recovery item is unlocked in a later age, it also becomes available to buy in earlier ages. Prices below are for Normal difficulty; on Easy difficulty, shop prices are halved.
Item | Price (Tul) | Effect |
|---|---|---|
Recovery Medicine | 30 | Restores 3 Life |
Advanced Recovery Medicine | 70 | Restores 6 Life |
Fighter's Draught | 30 | Raises attack by 20% for a time |
Defender's Draught | 30 | Raises defense by 100% for a time |
Empty Glass Vial | 120 | Holds one recovery item; buy more to carry more |
Key Items
Key Items advance quests, open locked doors, and grant access to new areas. Most are used automatically as the story progresses, while colored keys are used manually on matching locked doors. A few, such as the Shard of Life and Drop of Life, can be found across multiple ages.
Key Item | Description |
|---|---|
Shard of Life | Condensed, crystallized life energy. Four of them combine into a Drop of Life |
Drop of Life | An activated fusion of four Shards of Life that permanently raises max Life |
Golden Bell | A charm tied to the adventuring guideposts; linked to fast travel |
Memento Comb | A comb dropped by an elderly acquaintance of Elliot's, clearly well cared for |
Adventurer's Earrings | Earrings worn by Elliot, made from azure gems the color of his eyes |
Flamestone | The core of a Fire Elegg, prized for the fire magic within |
Cherished Hat | A sun hat once owned by Princess Heuria, given to her attendant |
Red / Blue Mist Ruins Key | Opens the matching locked doors in the Mist Ruins |
Red / Blue Unexplored Ruins Key | Opens the matching locked doors in the Unexplored Ruins |
Red Northern Tower Key | Opens a locked door in the Northern Tower |
Shards of Life and Max Life
Shards of Life are the only way to permanently increase Elliot's maximum Life, since he does not level up. Collecting four Shards of Life creates a single Drop of Life, which raises his maximum Life by one. Shards are found in treasure chests and are guaranteed inside the Shrines of Life scattered across the world. See Exploration and Puzzles for where to find them.
Treasure chests are a primary source of recovery items, key items, and magicite. See Chest Locations for every confirmed chest and its reward.
Needle Tools
Needles are special tools that reveal hidden things in the world rather than acting as consumables. Each points the player toward a specific kind of secret, and most are obtained either through story progress or by opening particular chests and finishing side quests; the exact source of each varies, so the notes below are general.
Needle | What It Reveals | How It Is Generally Obtained |
|---|---|---|
Weapon Needle | Reveals 1-star weapons hidden in the world | Found through early progression |
Better-Weapon Needle | Reveals 2-star weapons | Obtained later through progress or specific chests |
Best-Weapon Needle | Reveals 3-star weapons | Obtained late, tied to advanced exploration |
Magic Needle | Reveals Fairy Springs | Tied to story or exploration milestones |
Cat Needle | Points toward hidden cats | Unlocked as a milestone reward for collecting cats; see Chest Locations for the collectibles structure |
Tracing Needle | Marks the Point of No Return | Acquired near the late-game summit before the finale; see Side Quests for the missable content tied to it |
No Selling
There is no option to sell items in any shop. The only ways to earn tul are opening chests, defeating enemies, and breaking objects in the world. Unwanted consumables are simply used up, and unwanted magicite can be disassembled at the Magicite Shop for a partial fragment refund.
