The Age of Safekeeping, subtitled The Present, is the first period Elliot and Faie inhabit and the starting point of the adventure. It is their home era. Humanity's sole bastion in this time is the Kingdom of Huther, kept safe by a magic barrier born from Princess Heuria's innate powers. The rest of the continent of Philabieldia is overrun by beast tribes.
The Kingdom of Huther
The people of Huther live peacefully thanks to the princess's spell of Safekeeping, which repels the beast tribes from the kingdom's borders. The spell is deeply personal: Princess Heuria must remain in the castle at all times to sustain it. Though she longs to see the outside world, she cannot leave without putting everyone inside at risk. The spell's origins and the extent of its power beyond day-to-day protection are not detailed in pre-release materials.
How the Adventure Begins
The catalyst for Elliot's journey is the discovery of previously unknown ruins outside the kingdom. His old friend Euygene, the royal scholar and foremost magic researcher in Huther, recommends Elliot to investigate them. That commission draws Elliot into a mission far larger than exploration: the quest to lift the curse on Princess Heuria, which sets him on the path through the Doorway of Time and backward through the four ages.

Transition to the Past
After the opening events in Huther, Elliot and Faie cross through the Doorway of Time into the Age of Reconstruction, the first step backward in their thousand-year journey. The state of Huther and Princess Heuria's fate are left suspended while they search history for the means to break her curse. For the full cast across all eras, see the Characters page.
