The Prologue Demo is a free, standalone demo for The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales, released on May 18, 2026 for PC (Steam), PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2. Save data from the demo carries over directly to the full game, meaning progress, weapons, and magicite collected during the demo are not lost when moving to the full game.
What the Demo Contains

The Prologue Demo covers the opening chapter of the game's story and provides the same freedom of exploration as the full version within its scope. In the demo, players can:
Progress through the opening main quest
Explore the world of Philabieldia within accessible areas
Hunt for more powerful weapons off the beaten path
Collect magicite fragments and form them at shops
Defeat the Greatsword Guardian, Great Bow Guardian and Ulfr Frostclaw before the Northern Tower's scripted encounter.
The demo does include limits on accessible areas compared to the full game. Regions beyond the prologue remain outside this demo build. The official description notes it is "the retail version of the game with some differences, such as limits on accessible areas."
Demo Length and Route
The Prologue Demo runs about 4 to 5 hours depending on difficulty and how much a player explores. It covers the entire prologue, from the Kingdom of Huther in the Age of Safekeeping through the Doorway of Time to the Northern Tower in Littlehope in the Age of Reconstruction, so two of the four ages are playable.
Unlike the earlier Debut Demo, Faie is not directly playable in the Prologue Demo, so her Sprint and Warp abilities are unavailable until the full game. For the prologue, Elliot is instead accompanied by Princess Heuria, who can heal him to full. Five side quests are available to try across the two ages.
Side quests in the demo
Quest | Age |
|---|---|
A Spear with a Past | Age of Safekeeping |
A Good Old Bow | Age of Safekeeping |
Wind-Tossed Adoration | Age of Safekeeping |
A Chain of Kindness | Age of Safekeeping |
Blow Your Troubles Away | Age of Reconstruction |
See Side Quests for the clients, unlocks, objectives and rewards.
Save Data Carry-Over
The full game can detect a demo save on the same platform and offer a transfer prompt at startup. From the title screen, select Carryover from demo and choose a save slot. The demo does not need to be finished: story progress, discovered areas, weapons, magicite and tul can be carried over from an unfinished save. See Getting Started for tips on making the most of the demo hours.

The Earlier Debut Demo (2025)
Before the Prologue Demo, Square Enix released a separate Debut Demo on July 31, 2025, exclusively on the Nintendo Switch 2 eShop. This earlier build offered approximately 90 minutes of gameplay and was accompanied by a feedback survey open through September 30, 2025. The Debut Demo was a separate, earlier build; save-data carry-over to the full game has been confirmed for the Prologue Demo.
The Prologue Demo incorporates several improvements made in direct response to that feedback survey, making it a meaningfully different experience from the 2025 build.
Improvements from Player Feedback
The following changes were made to the full game and reflected in the Prologue Demo, based on responses to the Debut Demo survey:
Four difficulty options added: Easy, Normal, Hard, and Very Hard (see Accessibility and Options)
Faster base movement speed for Elliot across the overworld
Single-button shortcut selection after opening the weapon shortcut menu
Simplified magic selection for Faie
Weapon-specific magicite boxes added for clarity
"Leave it to Faie" option that automatically equips magicite
Single-button map access (previously multi-step)
These additions reflect a developer emphasis on accessibility and convenience without reducing the depth of the combat system for players who want full control.
