The Age of Magic, subtitled A Golden Age, is the third period Elliot and Faie visit on their backward journey through the four ages. It represents the height of human prosperity in Philabieldia, driven by technological advances in magic so powerful that they even succeed in driving back the beast tribes. Yet the future beyond this prosperity is already a world of ruin. Somewhere in this age, gears are out of alignment.

The Nation of Weyzn
In contrast to the meager village of Littlehope that Elliot has just left behind in the Age of Reconstruction, the nation of Weyzn is lined with magnificent buildings. Its prosperity rests on two rival magical research institutions with fundamentally different philosophies, both headquartered in Weyzn.
Forthewor and Formanit
The tension between the two institutes is a defining feature of the age:
Institute | Philosophy | Director | Notable Member |
|---|---|---|---|
Forthewor | Pursues technological advancement by any means | Hildebrandt | N/A |
Formanit | Follows the enrichment of people's lives as its lodestar | Fausta | Marnie (field researcher) |
Fausta, director of Formanit, was formerly a researcher at Forthewor before going independent to found her own institute. Her earnest and rigorous approach has earned the deep trust of her staff. Marnie, a Formanit researcher specializing in mechanical magic, carries out field tests of magical organisms called thaumata. Hildebrandt, director of Forthewor, is a results-focused realist appointed at a young age for his outstanding research record and is highly regarded by the population of Weyzn. Ikarus, head of Weyzn's nobility, keeps a stern watch over governance; his concerns about Forthewor's reckless pursuit of progress have led him to form a cooperative relationship with Fausta.
Key Figures

Ruin on the Horizon
Despite the age's outward prosperity, the narrative casts a shadow over it. The game's framing is direct: the future beyond Weyzn is a world of ruin. How that collapse occurs, what role the two institutes play, and how the Age of Magic connects to the devastated world Elliot saw in the Age of Reconstruction are among the story's core mysteries, none of which have been revealed before launch.
Place in the Journey
The Age of Magic sits between the Age of Reconstruction and the earlier Age of Budding. The interplay of these eras, and the question of where things first went wrong in Philabieldia's history, is central to the story Elliot and Faie are piecing together.
