Combat in Starsand Island happens almost entirely inside the Moonlit Forest. Health is irrelevant on the overworld -- you only take damage from hostile creatures underground. All weapons and ammunition are tied to the Exploration profession, with blueprints sold at Zephyria's Exploration Club in Green Meadow.
There are two categories: ranged weapons (slingshots, bows, crossbow) that use craftable ammunition, and melee tools (hammers, machetes) that double as mining and woodcutting equipment.
The starting weapon. Zephyria gives you the blueprint and 20 Simple Pellets when you first visit the Exploration Club.
Ammo: Simple Pellets, Blast Pellets, Stink Bombs
Usage: Left-click to fire, hold for a charged shot that deals more damage. Right-click to switch ammo types.
The slingshot is effective against Runebirds and Luminfrogs, and it is the weapon you will use for the Crystalith boss fight. It becomes ineffective against later bosses like the Glintortle, where you need a bow.
An upgraded slingshot with higher damage. Unlocked as a quest reward from the Explorer profession chain (Junior Explorer tier).
Crafting: 1 Slingshot + 3 Gold Ore at Worktable I
Ammo: Same pellet types as the regular slingshot
Gold Ore is mined inside the Moonlit Forest, from Crystalith Hideout onward. You need an Impact Hammer or better pickaxe to mine it.
The first bow, and the weapon that opens up arrow-based combat. Required for deeper Moonlit Forest progression.
Blueprint: Exploration Club, 650 Coins (Junior Explorer)
Crafting: 5 Hardwood + 6 Carbon Line at Worktable II
Ammo: All arrow types (Standard, Bomb, Fire, Water, Stinky, Wood, Gale, Time)
Hardwood comes from chopping Banyan trees with an Impact Axe. Carbon Line is crafted on the Spinning Wheel. You need the Crafting profession at Junior tier to build a Worktable II.
An upgraded bow with improved damage, using the same ammo types as the Plume Bow.
Blueprint: Exploration Club (Junior Explorer)
Crafting: 1 Plume Bow + 2 Gold Ingot at Worktable II
The most powerful ranged weapon in the game. Unlike other weapons, its blueprint cannot be purchased -- it is a quest reward for reaching Expert Explorer.
Blueprint: Quest reward (Expert Explorer)
Crafting: 15 Premium Wood + 3 Gold Wire + 4 Iron Sheet at Worktable II
Ammo: All arrow types
Premium Wood comes from breaking White Fig trees with a Machete. Gold Wire and Iron Sheet are processed at the Furnace.
Melee weapons in Starsand Island are primarily tools for resource gathering that also function in combat. They are purchased through Zerine's General Store rather than the Exploration Club, and require Crafter profession tiers to unlock.
Blueprint: Zerine's General Store (Junior Crafter)
Crafting: 4 Hardwood Plank + 4 Iron Sheet + 2 Radiant Crystal + 3 Bronze + 1 Impulse Pickaxe at Worktable II
Primary use: Mining. Strong enough to break every ore type in the Moonlit Forest, including Gold Ore deposits. Can mine clustered ores in a single swing.
Combat use: Functions as a melee weapon with area-of-effect impact.
Blueprint: Intermediate Crafter tier
Crafting: 20 Premium Wood + 5 Alloy + 5 Starflare Crystal + 5 Rubber + 1 Impact Hammer at Worktable II
Note: Requires the Impact Hammer as a crafting ingredient -- this is an upgrade path, not a separate weapon line.
Blueprint: Zerine's General Store (Junior Crafter)
Crafting: 4 Hardwood Plank + 4 Iron Sheet + 2 Radiant Crystal + 3 Bronze + 1 Impact Axe at Worktable II
Primary use: Chopping White Fig trees for Premium Wood. Can also harvest beehives from trees.
Combat use: Fast melee strikes with shorter range than the hammer.
Blueprint: Intermediate Crafter tier
Crafting: 5 Starflare Crystal + 5 Rubber + 1 Machete at Worktable II
Note: Upgrade path from the Machete.
All ammo is crafted at the Ammo Maker station. The blueprint costs 50 Coins from the Exploration Club and has no tier requirement. You can also use the public Ammo Maker inside the Exploration Club itself.
Simple Pellet: Blueprint 200 Coins (no tier requirement). The basic slingshot round, crafted from Stone. Stock up heavily before your first Moonlit Forest run.
Blast Pellet: Blueprint 1,000 Coins (Junior Explorer). Area-of-effect damage. Particularly effective against the Crystalith boss.
Stink Bomb: Blueprint 1,000 Coins (Junior Explorer). Throwable that debuffs or repels enemies in an area.
Arrow (Standard): Blueprint 550 Coins (Junior Explorer). Basic bow ammo, crafted in batches of 3. Can sometimes be recovered from the ground after shooting.
Bomb Arrow: Blueprint 4,000 Coins (Junior Explorer). High-damage explosive arrow. Requires Phosand (crafted from Coal + Sunveil Shrooms). Best used against the Glintortle when its shell glows blue. Does not work on vine barriers.
Stinky Arrow: Blueprint 2,000 Coins (Junior Explorer). Applies a debuff effect in arrow form.
Wood Arrow: Blueprint 4,500 Coins (Senior Explorer). Higher damage than standard arrows.
Gale Arrow: Senior Explorer tier. High-damage projectile.
Fire Arrow: Senior Explorer tier. Burns away brambles and tree roots blocking forest paths. Also used to light pillars in puzzle rooms. Crafted from Embersand and Coal.
Water Arrow: Senior Explorer tier. Causes roots and branches to grow, creating bridges over gaps. Destroys vine obstacles. Required for reaching late-game areas like the Harvest Yard.
Time Arrow: Expert Explorer tier. Endgame ammunition.
Sentry Bots are deployable AI companions that fight alongside you in the Moonlit Forest. They draw enemy attention away from you and deal passive damage over time, making forest runs considerably less stressful.
Deploy them during boss fights to split aggro. They are especially useful against the Glintortle, where you need time to aim Bomb Arrows at the shell.
Sentry Bots can be assigned to patrol specific areas or set to follow you.
They collect resources independently and carry a large inventory before needing to return.
You can manually recall them to deposit their inventory at any time.
Ammo Maker: Crafts all pellets and arrows. Blueprint 50 Coins from the Exploration Club.
Worktable I: Crafts the Slingshot, Golden Slingshot, and basic tools.
Worktable II: Required for the Plume Bow, Golden Bow, Crossbow, Impact Hammer, Blast Hammer, Machete, and Sharp Machete. Requires Iron Ingots to build.
Furnace: Processes raw ore into ingots (Copper, Iron, Gold), wire, and sheets.
Spinning Wheel: Crafts Carbon Line needed for the Plume Bow.
Charged attacks: Holding the fire button charges your slingshot or bow for a stronger shot. Always charge against bosses.
Ammo switching: Right-click (PC) or A button (controller) to cycle through loaded ammo types.
Health: Represented by hearts. Only drains in the Moonlit Forest. Restore with Exploration cooking recipes.
Death: Dropping to zero health ends the day immediately. You wake up the next day at the nearest forest camp.
Boss reset: Leaving a boss arena causes the boss to respawn at full health.
Weak spots: Most bosses have glowing areas (usually yellow) that take double damage. Learn the patterns and aim for those spots.
Carry a mix of ammo types. Standard arrows for regular enemies, Bomb Arrows for bosses. Do not waste expensive ammo on weak creatures.
Build your own Ammo Maker early. The public one at the Exploration Club works, but having one at your farm saves travel time.
Always bring HP-restoring food in your hotbar. Cooking recipes from the Exploration profession restore health, not stamina.
The Plume Bow is the single biggest power spike. Prioritize reaching Junior Explorer if you are struggling with combat.
Fire and Water Arrows are puzzle tools, not combat tools. They are expensive to craft and do not deal extra damage to enemies.
Deploy Sentry Bots at the start of any boss fight, not midway through. Their aggro draw is most useful when you are still at full health and have time to aim.
The Crossbow (Expert Explorer) is worth the grind. It is the strongest ranged weapon by a wide margin.
