Overview

Starsand Points are the secondary progression currency in Starsand Island. While Coins serve as the primary monetary unit for buying and selling goods, Starsand Points function as a specialized currency tied to personal growth and property development. They cannot be traded, sold, or converted to Coins. Instead, they are earned through accomplishments and spent on permanent upgrades that expand the player's capabilities.

The two main uses for Starsand Points are purchasing skills from the Workpedia profession skill tree and buying land expansion tiles for your Hopeland property. Both of these systems represent long-term investments that compound in value as the player progresses, making Starsand Points one of the most important resources to accumulate consistently.

How to Earn Starsand Points

Starsand Points are awarded for completing milestones, certifications, and achievements across all gameplay systems. Unlike Coins, which flow freely from selling items and completing quests, Starsand Points come from specific accomplishment triggers.

Profession Certifications

Each profession tier (Apprentice, Intermediate, Senior, Expert, Master) requires the player to pass a certification exam or complete a set of tasks. Passing a certification awards a lump sum of Starsand Points. Higher-tier certifications award more points, with Master-level certifications offering the largest single payouts in the game.

Since there are multiple professions (farming, ranching, fishing, cooking, crafting, mining, and others), a player who advances across all professions simultaneously will accumulate Starsand Points much faster than one who focuses on a single track.

Bulletin Board Milestones

The Bulletin Board posts daily and weekly requests from island residents. Completing a set number of Bulletin Board tasks triggers milestone rewards, which include Starsand Points alongside other items. These milestones reset at regular intervals, providing a repeatable source of points for active players.

Achievements

The in-game achievement system tracks hundreds of goals across exploration, combat, social interactions, crafting, and collection completion. Many achievements award Starsand Points upon completion. Achievements range from simple ("Catch your first fish") to complex ("Complete the full fish catalog"), and the point rewards scale accordingly.

Seasonal Events

Limited-time seasonal events occasionally offer Starsand Points as prizes for event-specific activities. These events rotate throughout the in-game year and provide bonus earning opportunities that are not available during normal gameplay.

Spending Starsand Points

Starsand Points have two primary spending categories. Both represent permanent upgrades that cannot be undone or refunded, so spending decisions should be made carefully.

Workpedia Skills

The Workpedia is the profession skill tree accessible through the phone app. It displays all available profession perks organized by category and tier. Each perk costs a specific number of Starsand Points to unlock. Once purchased, a perk is permanently active and provides its bonus at all times.

Workpedia perks range from small passive bonuses (e.g., 5% faster crop growth) to significant gameplay changes (e.g., new crafting recipes, expanded inventory slots, improved tool efficiency). The most powerful perks sit at the end of their respective branches and cost the highest point amounts.

Land Expansion

Land expansion tiles extend the buildable area of the player's Hopeland property. Each expansion tile costs Starsand Points (and sometimes Coins as well). The first few expansions are relatively cheap, but costs increase progressively as the property grows larger.

Expanding land is essential for mid-to-late game players who need space for additional farm plots, animal enclosures, crafting stations, and decorations. Without expansion, the default property footprint is too small to support a fully developed farm and ranch operation.

Balancing Points Between Workpedia and Land

One of the key strategic decisions in Starsand Island is how to split Starsand Points between Workpedia perks and land expansion. There is no single correct answer; the right balance depends on the player's current priorities.

Starsand Points vs. Coins

Starsand Points and Coins serve completely different purposes and should not be confused. The table below highlights the key differences.

Tips

• Diversify your profession certifications. Advancing in multiple professions simultaneously generates Starsand Points much faster than maxing a single profession first.

• Check the Bulletin Board daily. Completing posted requests contributes toward milestone rewards that include Starsand Points, and the requests reset regularly.

• Do not hoard points indefinitely. Workpedia perks provide immediate, permanent benefits, so spending points as soon as you have enough for a useful perk is almost always better than saving for a distant goal.

• Track your achievement progress in the journal. Many achievements are close to completion without you realizing it, and finishing them provides quick point boosts.

• Land expansion costs increase with each tile purchased. Plan your property layout before expanding so you do not waste tiles on poorly positioned expansions.

• Seasonal events are time-limited. When an event offers Starsand Points as rewards, prioritize those activities over normal gameplay for the duration of the event.
